NASCAR’s Missing Manufacturer Is Finally Coming Back In 2027Is Stellantis ready to step into the NASCAR Cup Series arena just yet? It’s been a year since RAM entered the Truck Series. The manufacturer has fielded drivers joining its roster, including Tony Stewart, Ryan Newman, Jamie McMurray, Clint Bowyer, Corey LaJoie, Colin Braun, Parker Kligerman, and A. J. Allmendinger.Jordan Bianchi of The Athletic reported that Stellantis might bring Dodge back into the NASCAR Cup Series in 2027. And the good news is that they have already developed their cars and engines. Bianchi also stated that Dodge has already gone through its first round of wind tunnel tests, using Charger bodies. Regardless of when Dodge finally decides to return to the sport, Kaulig Racing will be the first Dodge Cup Series team. And if that happens next year, NASCAR will once again have four manufacturers in its top-tier series. Needless to say, that’s great news for the sport.Dodge last competed in the NASCAR Cup Series in 2012, with a championship victory driven by Brad Keselowski. During its 12-year run in the Sprint Cup Series, Dodge bagged a total of 55 victories with 11 different drivers. However, Team Penske, Dodge’s primary championship-winning race team, switched to Ford that same year, leaving Dodge in a pool of economic hurdles. Dodge didn’t have partner teams or time to rebuild its racing programs and hence left the Cup Series scene when the season ended.“We’ve spent an intense five months working to identify and evaluate all options for our future involvement in NASCAR,” said Ralph Gilles, the president and CEO of the Street and Racing Technology Brand and Motorsports, Chrysler Group. “A number of opportunities emerged, and our team worked diligently to put a structure together to fit our overall business and competitive objectives.”Unfortunately, they couldn’t quite figure out a feasible structure despite interest from teams and sponsors. Which means that money was never the problem.Celebrity Chef Guy Fieri Joins Hands With Jimmie Johnson As Strategic Team OwnerFood Network icon and American restaurateur Guy Fieri has joined the NASCAR Cup Series team Legacy Motor Club as its strategic owner. Fieri’s involvement adds to the unmistakable celebrity power of the organization and pushes its reach way beyond racing.Speaking of his partnership with Jimmie Johnson’s team, Fieri said in a statement, “Motorsports and race cars have always had that raw energy I love — the people, the passion, the culture, the speed. Legacy Motor Club is building something different, and I wanted to be part of it. This is about more than racing — it’s about creating a brand that connects with fans everywhere, from the track to the table.”Needless to say, Fieri’s involvement in the team will be marked by collaborative content and initiatives for fan engagement that include merchandise, lifestyle culture, and, of course, food.“Guy has built an incredible brand by being authentic and connecting with people in a real way,” Team owner Jimmie Johnson said of Fieri. “That’s at the heart of what we’re building here. We want Legacy to reach far beyond race day, and Guy’s creativity, energy, and perspective are exactly what this ownership group is about.”Next up on the NASCAR Cup Series schedule is the Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway on June 28. Starting at 3:30 pm ET, fans can watch the 110-lap race on TNT Sports or listen to live radio updates on PRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
