Imag: MilenceCharging network operator Milence has opened its first public charging hub in Denmark. The site is located near Padborg on the German-Danish border and lies directly on the Scandinavian-Mediterranean TEN-T corridor. It is designed to serve as a charging hub for cross-border long-haul transport between Scandinavia and Central Europe. In the first phase, four CCS charging points with a capacity of up to 400 kW are available. Milence plans further expansion phases and additional driver services. Thanks to its direct connection to the motorway, the site is specifically designed to support the use of battery-electric HGVs in long-haul transport. With the new site, Milence is expanding its European charging network for heavy-duty vehicles. The joint venture, formed by Daimler Truck, the Traton Group, and the Volvo Group, now operates 37 charging hubs across nine European countries, according to its own statements. For the further development of its network, the company is also focusing on the Megawatt Charging System (MCS). The technology is already available at initial sites, including the port of Antwerp-Bruges in Belgium, Zwolle in the Netherlands, and Landvetter in Sweden. MCS technology is set to be gradually introduced at additional locations within the network in the future. In Denmark, the ad-hoc charging rate starts at 2.799 DKK per kilowatt-hour plus VAT. Payment can be made via contactless payment, e-mobility service providers, or the Milence Charge Card. For fleet customers, the company also offers volume-based tariff models.Milence was founded in 2022 as a joint venture by Daimler Truck, Traton, and the Volvo Group. The company aims to establish at least 1,700 high-power charging points for heavy-duty vehicles across Europe (including the UK) by 2027. This initiative is intended to expand the charging infrastructure for battery-electric HGVs and coaches. However, the participating manufacturers regularly emphasise that additional HGV-compatible charging facilities from other operators will be necessary to achieve comprehensive electrification in the heavy-duty transport sector.milence.com
