Lincoln Revives Corsair SUV with a New HybridLincolnAfter a one-year hiatus, the Lincoln Corsair compact luxury SUV is coming back to market with a new hybrid powertrain, standard all-wheel drive, and a hefty price increase. The 2027 Lincoln Corsair Hybrid will reach dealers early next year with a starting price of $48,790 including a $2,295 destination fee. That's up about $7,500 on the 2025 model, some of which can be attributed to upgraded equipment and a chunk of which is likely due to the tariffs Lincoln will now pay to import its revived entry model from China.A Simpler Starting PointWhen we last saw the Corsair in late 2025, it was offered with a 250-hp four-cylinder engine sending torque to either the front or all four wheels as well as the Grand Touring AWD plug-in hybrid with 266 hp and 27 miles of electric range. The 2027 simplifies the lineup with a single powertrain: a hybridized turbocharged 2.0-liter paired exclusively with all-wheel drive.LincolnWith what little technical detail we have, the Corsair's new propulsion system looks to be a variant of the hybrid setup also offered in the Nautilus Hybrid. Interestingly, it will make 305 horsepower in the Corsair, a 20-hp bump over the version in the larger and heavier Nautilus. Lincoln is holding the fuel economy numbers for a later announcement.AdvertisementAdvertisementAs with the old Corsair, the 2027 model comes in just two trims. The entry Premiere model includes BlueCruise 1.5 hands-free highway driving as standard with four years of included service. Buyers also get four years of Lincoln's security and connectivity packages, which include a 5G wi-fi hotspot, streaming video for apps such as YouTube and Netflix, theft alerts pushed to your phone, and stolen vehicle tracking.Reserve models raise the opulence with Black Satin Ash wood trim, leather seats, a premium headliner, and optional 24-way heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats. The refreshed front and rear fascias incorporate new head- and taillights. There are also three new wheel designs measuring 18-, 19-, and 20 inches plus five new colors: Nocturnal Blue, Tinted Copper, Chroma Flame Red, Manhattan Green, and White Platinum. The optional Jet Appearance package that trades the silver exterior trim for black finishes carries over from the old Corsair.LincolnFrom Kentucky to ChongqingThe 2027 Lincoln Corsair Hybrid's new lease on life is possible because Ford moved production from Kentucky to Chongqing, China. It will be the second vehicle in Lincoln's four-model lineup imported to the U.S. from China alongside the Lincoln Nautilus, which won MotorTrend's SUV of the Year award in 2025. The Lincoln Aviator and Navigator are built in the U.S.AdvertisementAdvertisementThe Corsair announcement comes less than two weeks after Lincoln announced it would phase out Chinese imports starting in 2030, revealing just how hard it's been for automakers to deal with fast-changing politics and policies when they develop product plans a decade or more in advance. In late 2025, Ford ended production of the popular Escape and Corsair compact SUVs at its Louisville assembly plant to retool the facility for the 2028 Ford Fathom electric pickup, the first of several new models built on Ford's Universal EV platform. The Corsair, which was Lincoln's second-bestselling vehicle in 2025, now has to contend with steep tariffs and new regulations that limit imports of connected vehicles.Photo credit: LincolnPhoto credit: LincolnPhoto credit: LincolnPhoto credit: LincolnAdvertisementAdvertisementPhoto credit: LincolnPhoto credit: LincolnPhoto credit: LincolnPhoto credit: LincolnAdvertisementAdvertisementPhoto credit: LincolnPhoto credit: LincolnPhoto credit: LincolnPhoto credit: LincolnAdvertisementAdvertisementYou can see the influence of those policies in the Corsair's cabin. Models that are both built and sold in China sport a single cabin-spanning screen that Lincoln probably could have spun as a new take on the Lincoln Digital Experience that won a MotorTrend Best Tech award in 2025. But 2027 Corsairs destined for America don't adopt that interior. Instead, we get last year's cabin warmed over with a new tan and natural leather Stellar Sun theme and what Lincoln says are softer seats. The dash layout features a conventional design with separate digital instrument cluster and tablet-style center infotainment screens sprouting out of the dash. The U.S. Department of Commerce's new rules ban imports of vehicles with software designed, developed, or manufactured by a Chinese company. Recycling the old U.S.-market interior makes it easier to excise Chinese suppliers from the infotainment system hardware and software.
