In the first quarter of 2026 alone, Jeep moved 53,482 Grand Cherokees – a solid 10% jump over last year's 48,465. That makes it the top dog in Stellantis' lineup here in the US.Riding that wave, Jeep is beefing up the Grand Cherokee lineup for 2027 by dusting off two familiar badges: Trailhawk and Overland. These nameplates are historically significant for the Jeep brand, but each one speaks to a different kind of driver.JeepView the 2 images of this gallery on the original articleTrailhawk Trades Electrification for a New Turbo FourThe biggest talking point is what's under the hood of the 2027 Trailhawk. The last one came only with the problematic 4xe plug-in hybrid powertrain, but Jeep has ditched electrification this time. Instead, you get the new 2.0-liter Hurricane turbo-four, hooked up to an eight-speed auto.AdvertisementAdvertisementThat setup cranks out 324 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque. Not bad, but it's a clear step down – 51 horses and 138 lb-ft less than the old electrified Trailhawk. But Jeep seems more interested in real-world capability than just numbers. The Trailhawk packs Quadra-Trac II four-wheel drive, a two-speed transfer case, electronic rear limited-slip diff, Selec-Terrain with Rock mode, Quadra-Lift air suspension, and six skid plates to keep the important bits safe. You also get chunky 30.5-inch Goodyear Territory all-terrains, a TrailCam to spot obstacles, and a tow package as standard. Jeep says it leads the class with 11.4 inches of ground clearance and approach, breakover, and departure angles of 36, 24.4, and 30.3 degrees.Looks-wise, the Trailhawk stands out with red tow hooks (not blue), a matte black hood decal, special badging, and 18-inch wheels wrapped in proper all-terrain rubber.JeepView the 6 images of this gallery on the original articleOverland Nameplate Returns for 2027While the Trailhawk is all about off-road chops, the Grand Cherokee Overland plays it down the middle. As the premium off-roader, the Overland gets its own style: shiny tow hooks, blacked-out lower bodywork, a roof that matches the body, Silver Silk accents, and big 21-inch machine-faced wheels.AdvertisementAdvertisementInside, you get Nappa leather, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rears, and exclusive trim. The Overland's cabin is still all about being upscale, but not so fancy that you forget it's built for adventure.Standard kit includes Quadra-Trac II four-wheel drive, a two-speed transfer case, Quadra-Lift air suspension, semi-active damping, Hill Descent Control, and a 360-degree camera system. Both the 2027 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk and Overland will roll out of Stellantis' Detroit Assembly Complex–Mack in Michigan. Expect to see them at dealerships later this year, with pricing and more details coming soon.JeepView the 4 images of this gallery on the original articleAdvertisementAdvertisementThis story was originally published by Autoblog on Jun 16, 2026, where it first appeared in the News section.
