IMS MuseumThe Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum broke ground on its restoration and event center Wednesday morning.According to a news release from IMS Museum, the new center will be located at 1111 Polco Street, near West 16th and 10th streets.The 87,000-sqaure-foot center will be a "dedicated space for the full-time restoration department to continue preserving and caring for the vehicle collection," officials said.AdvertisementAdvertisementThe new center will also have an event space, multiple restoration bays, detailing bays and dedicated vehicle storage space.Cars not displayed in the museum will be housed in the IMS Restoration and Event Center, officials said, where the museum plans to have rotating exhibits and offer public tours.Officials said hands-on learning classes will be offered at the center for students interested in pursuing automotive engineering and restoration careers.
