As a result, the second-row seats may continue moving and apply force even after making contact with a person during automated operations, such as the power fold-and-stow function. This failure increases the risk of pinch injuries, particularly for children seated in or standing near the rear seating area during seat adjustment.AdvertisementAdvertisementThis is a similar issue that forced a stop sale of the Hyundai Palisade and prompted a recall of 61,000 vehicles after a two-year-old child was killed in March of this year. There have been two alleged minor injuries related to the issue in the Ioniq 9.Until the software update is installed, Hyundai is advising owners to exercise heightened caution when operating any powered second-row seat functions. Parents and caregivers should ensure that children are not seated in the second row or standing near the seat-folding path while the mechanisms are engaged.To fix the defect, Hyundai dealers will inspect the seat controller software and update the logic free of charge.
