honda getting back into its element by 2029Looking to battle for sales in the outdoor-adventure SUV segment, Honda plans to revive the Element crossover in North America in the second quarter of 2029.honda getting back into its element by 2029According to an Automotive News report, the Japanese automaker will bring back the boxy-looking crossover in hopes to capture some of the growing adventure vehicle segment. In terms of size, it will sit between the HR-V and CR-V. Production will begin, AN reports, during the second quarter of 2029 in Ohio. While it will be produced in the U.S., it will join Honda Passport TrailSport Elite and Acura Integra Type S and be exported to other markets. In addition to following the trend producing outdoor-oriented vehicles, like the Toyota 4Runner or Ford Bronco, it also mirrors another trend of reviving long-canceled nameplates like the Nissan Xterra.AdvertisementAdvertisementHonda expects production to reach 100,000 units in the first year, according to "people with knowledge of the plant," AN noted. Honda officials declined to comment on the story.honda getting back into its element by 2029The move to bring back the Element, which was discontinued in 2011, begs the question: Is it for nostalgia - the crossover enjoys a strong following among a group of loyalists - or does Honda see an unfilled need? The question comes up for two reasons. First, Honda has an outdoorsy SUV in its product lineup already in the for of the Passport TrailSport. The midsize SUV features conventional exterior styling, and it is already geared for substantive off-road activities. Additionally, Honda's certainly not opposed to reaching back into its history for names of new vehicles, the all-new Prelude revealed last year being the most recent example. The big question for some: Will it feature a drain in the floorboards so it can be hosed out like the original.[Images: Honda]Become a TTAC insider.
