Long removed from its days of only tuning existing production cars, Hennessey has fully moved into its bespoke hypercar era with the Venom F5. Available as a coupe or roadster, with or without the track-focused Revolution aero and performance package, the F5 has something for just about every supercar collector. But still keen to push the envelope even more, Hennessey created the Revolution LF, a very special one-off version of the roadster with a six-speed manual gearbox and more than 2,000 horsepower. Despite being earmarked for only one lucky customer, the automaker is still letting the world in on the fun by putting the Venom F5 Revolution LF through its paces and capturing the whole thing in glorious 4K video and sound. Pushing A Rare Car To New Extremes The ultra-special LF is a blend of its siblings. It keeps the more aggressive aerodynamics package of its Revolution namesake, but the gated six-speed gearbox is something it shares only with the limited-production Venom F5-M roadster – all other versions of the supercar send power to the wheels by a seven-speed automated transmission. The Revolution LF also has more power than any previous Hennessey, with 2,031 hp coming from its twin-turbocharged 6.6-liter V8, an improvement of 217. (Note: If you've already purchased an F5 Venom and can't bear the fact that your ride has a mere 1,817 horses, the automaker will happily sell you an "Evolution" upgrade kit for $235,000, which includes the power boost as well as some aerodynamic and chassis modifications for greater performance.)Fully unleashed on its native test track and with company founder John Hennessey behind the wheel, the F5 Evolution LF is an unholy screamer of a hypercar. Idling through the Hennessey parking lot past a fleet of modded Mustangs, Cadillacs, and Corvettes, the cammy lope sounds like it's ready to beat the pavement into submission, and at part throttle, the metallic whir of the twin turbochargers is the predominant noise. But as revs rise, the so-called "Fury" V8 begins to make its presence known, emitting a tune that's somehow reminiscent of both the basso profondo of a small-block Chevy and the banshee howl of a Lamborghini V12. It's not quite as polished a noise as either, but the shrieking exhaust note still demands attention and respect.HennesseyBetter still is the metallic clang of the six-speed shifting through its Italianate gates. The movement looks as precise as the sweep of a Rolex's second hand, with the lever slotting into each gear with a reassuring thunk. The new owner of this Venom F5 Revolution LF is one lucky person to be able to polish that knob every time they go for a drive. Even More Raw Visual Aggression Accompanying the audible and tactile delights is a Hennessey supercar with some very specific design specs. The base car is an already-rare Revolution roadster equipped with the Stealth Series exposed carbon fiber package, but the automaker's "Maverick" customization program goes even further by tinting the lightweight, woven strands a deep brown, accompanied by a coat of champagne paint called River Sand Metallic. Deep brown leather coordinates the cabin with the bodywork, while the solid aluminum milled gearshift gives the interior some analog appeal. Hennessey Special VehiclesAs a one-off, the Hennessey Venom F5 Revolution LF will not become a full-fledged member of the model family. But although this particular build will remain exclusive to its lucky owner, the automaker is eager to invite other customers into the Maverick family by commissioning their own special supercars. Hey John, make our manual droptop a retina-searing purple with the F5-M's sail panel and the Revolution's underbody aerodynamics, please.
