There was the soft cheese recall over listeria concerns and then over 500,000 boxes of mac and cheese were recalled for failing to list allergens. Now, the Ford Motor Company is recalling more than 540,000 vehicles. The vehicles in question are Ford Expeditions sold between 2018 and 2024. According to the June 9 recall notice published on the NHTSA website, the chrome plating on some Ford Expedition vehicles' center consoles "may bubble and peel, resulting in sharp edges." The edges are so sharp that a driver can casually rest their hand on the console and cut or otherwise hurt themselves, while behind the wheel, which is a dangerous combination. So far, globally, Ford said it is aware of one accident and 65 injuries related to this issue."Customer reports of hand and finger lacerations associated with this condition include a small number of instances stating that professional medical attention was required," the report warns.AdvertisementAdvertisementIf you're not sure if your vehicle is part of the recall, notification letters about the safety risk will be mailed out on June 29. Additional letters are expected to be sent out in January 2027 "once the remedy is available," per the NHTSA. However, if you're concerned about the console on your Ford Expedition, you don't need to wait for a letter. Owners of the affected vehicles are advised to take their cars to the dealership, where the center console will be inspected and, if necessary, replaced free of charge.Read the original article on Southern Living
