Waymo, owned by Google's parent company Alphabet, is currently operating in 11 cities, including Los Angeles, Houston and Miami. These robotaxis were first introduced to Denver last September, collecting data about the area and training to deal with snowy conditions. Waymo claims that over the span of 220 million miles driven by cars in their fleet, they were able to reduce crashes by 94% compared to human drivers. When the technology is ready to roll out to consumers, Waymo said that anyone with the app will be notified that the driverless cars are available. They expect it to be operating later this year.
