Dodge's new Charger isn't exactly popular. Since culling its V8 models (despite shoving a V8 in nearly anything else it makes), Dodge's sports cars have lost some of their appeal. It stands to reason the last thing you'd want to do when facing down competition that routinely outsells you is raise prices. Yet that's exactly what Dodge has done, and by a substantial $12,500 sum.Top Trims See Huge Price JumpDodgeThe 2027 Charger Daytona Scat Pack and Charger Daytona Scat Pack Plus both see a hefty $12,500 price hike. The two top trims appear to be taking the hit for the rest of the lineup, as 2027 pricing is unchanged for R/T, R/T Plus, Charger Scat Pack, and Charger Scat Pack Plus trim levels. Normally, automakers would soften this blow with updates for the vehicle. The Charger is, after all, a couple of years old at this point. It'd be due for some light updates, but besides the addition of a new Tesla-style NACS port, the model remains largely unchanged. The same can be said of the powertrain, making the same 670 horsepower in top trims. Daytona models are also the most powerful, in step with their new pricing. Instead, changes consist almost entirely of personalization items.AdvertisementAdvertisementBuyers, for example, can pick from a huge swath of new Mopar graphics. These include shiny new stripes in a few colors: gloss red, satin white, and satin black. A new and entirely cosmetic Brembo brake package paints the calipers orange and black. Inside, changes are similarly limited. Scat Pack trims get a new Petrol Blue leather seat option with red stitching and perforations. If red is your jam, new Demonic Red seat belts are also available.Dodge has struggled to make an argument for its electrified sports car, which debuted just ahead of a new gas-powered version. Shifts in emissions regulations mean Dodge can now put its Hemi V8s in nearly every other vehicle it makes, though the brand's sports car lineup ends with a turbocharged inline-six; the rumor mill tells of a new V8 version. This story was originally published by Men's Journal on Jun 9, 2026, where it first appeared in the News section.
