As noted by Road & Track, it seems that Dodge wants to reenter the Police Pursuit Vehicle space, with a new Charger PPV show car appearing at the Police Fleet Expo in Florida, taking place at the Daytona International Speedway this week. Images shared by Team One Public Safety Division on Instagram show the changes Stellantis has made to its four-door muscle car as it seeks to provide an alternative to the Mustang police car, and it looks properly sinister.Dodge Charger Could Be The Perfect Police Car, But It Needs WorkThe post states that the 2027 Charger PPV will be available to order in the summer of 2027 and will come standard with all-wheel drive, but it doesn't reveal whether the police car's 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six Hurricane engine is the Standard Output version (420 horsepower/468 lb-ft of torque) or the High Output one (550 hp/531 lb-ft of torque). Either way, the last Charger PPV only made 370 horses from its V8, so the new one will be more capable, not to mention more efficient. Additional buttons and switches also appear, with pre-wiring for whatever police departments choose to add, but as some online comments highlight, Dodge may need to revise the center console so the bulky shifter doesn't get in the way.
