Sure, it wasn't a volume model, but it gave the brand a truly aspirational model. Dodge had never made a car like it before, and since it was retired in 2017, nothing has come close. Not even close. Its formula was simple: take a lightweight chassis, stick a V10 in it, and give the two people on board the time of their lives. Dodge kept that recipe for five generations, with the V10 growing in displacement and power, plus incremental improvements to driving dynamics. Of course, Dodge didn't completely tame it, as Vipers are really meant to be wild. It was America's one and only ten-cylinder sports car.BoostedC7vettez/Bring a TrailerThe BackstoryThe final generation of the Viper ran from 2013 to 2017. Toward the end of production, Dodge rolled out a series of special-edition models to ensure the nameplate would bow out with a bang. One of those was the Snakeskin Edition, and only 31 were ever made. With its distinct green paint, snake skin-patterned stripes, and the ACR package, this wasn't a car for shrinking violets. Then again, the Viper never really catered to the more introverted crowd.AdvertisementAdvertisementAs it is, the Viper ACR is a rare car with Classic.com listing values at around $315,000. There are fewer than 1,000 of these, hence the price. The Snakeskin model should be a little more valuable, given its significance. The one we spotted on Bring a Trailer is well over a hundred grand more than a 'regular' ACR, and it's only ever done 1,100 miles over the last nine years. It's a one-owner car too, so it's fresh in the auction scene and hasn't been passed around just yet. This particular car is also among the last of the Snakeskin models made, as it's number 26 out of 31. If more proof is needed, the serialized plaque on the dashboard should quell any doubts.BoostedC7vettez/Bring a TrailerThe OfferSpecificationDetailMakeDodgeModelViper SRT Snakeskin ACR Edition Extreme (VX I)Year2017Mileage1,059 miles shownEngine8.4-liter V10Power645 horsepowerTransmission6-speed manualDrive typeRear-wheel driveExterior colorSnakeskin Green with Snakeskin Black stripesInterior colorBlack with green contrast stitchingWheels19-inch 'Venom' multispokeSuspensionFour-wheel double-wishboneBrakesFour-wheel cross-drilled vented discSteeringHydraulic rack and pinion steeringCurrent bid$451,000Interested in the car? Building a sweet, naturally aspirated V10 today is nigh on impossible to build now unless there's some form of electrification. The Viper was raw and visceral, demanding more out of the person behind the wheel. Scary? Probably, but that made it a truly thrilling and exciting car.BoostedC7vettez/Bring a TrailerBoostedC7vettez/Bring a TrailerAdvertisementAdvertisementView the 7 images of this gallery on the original articleThis story was originally published by Autoblog on Sep 22, 2026, where it first appeared in the Car Buying section.
