Chevrolet has revealed their sixth-generation bowtie logo. It debuts on the redesigned Sonic crossover in South America. New logo embraces black and is “slightly more horizontal.” Chevrolet has been teasing the Sonic crossover coupe for months, but the automaker has now revealed it will arrive at Brazilian dealers in May with a new bowtie emblem. The changes are minor and escaped detection in previous teasers. However, Chevy said the new bowtie is “slightly more horizontal” and embraces a black color in all versions. We can also see it’s illuminated and flanked by split lighting units. It will also adorn the multifunction steering wheel. While the updates largely fly under the radar, GM South America’s Head of Design said “The change follows the trend of slimmer headlights and grilles due to the evolution of lighting, propulsion and even manufacturing resources.” The company implied this is a global update and will spread to new 2027 models. Not The Sonic You Remember Putting the bowtie aside, the Sonic will measure 166.5 inches (4,230 mm) long and slot between the upcoming Onix Activ and existing Tracker. That’s pretty small as the Trailblazer comes in at 173.5 inches (4,407 mm), while the Trax spans 178.6 inches (4,537 mm). The model is a “global project,” but development was led by GM South America. Previous teasers have suggested the crossover coupe marketing might be a tad optimistic as the model doesn’t look particularly sporty. That being said, it sports an angular rear window and taillights that mimic the Equinox EV. The model is rumored to borrow heavily from the Onix and ride on the Global Emerging Markets (GEM) platform. This suggests the Sonic could be offered with an assortment of small displacement engines that will likely vary by market. H/T to Autoblog
