Thanks to 800-volt technology and a charging power of up to 600 kW, AMG promises a range of up to 460 kilometres after a quick pit stop. Mercedes-Benz AG/dpaMercedes-AMG has revived its GT 4-Door Coupe as an electric performance car. While the previous AMG GT 4-Door Coupe was available with combustion engines, this new model has swapped to an entirely battery-powered setup. Now, the GT 4-Door brings 1,153bhp, enabling a 0-100 km/h time of just two seconds and a top speed of 300 km/h. However, it also brings a range of up to 460 km, while a charging capacity of 600kW means that a 10 to 80% charge can be completed in 11 minutes.AdvertisementAdvertisementUnderneath, there are three electric motors helping to deliver high levels of performance at all times. From launch, there will be GT63 and GT55 models, with the latter bringing a slightly lower output of 804bhp.Mercedes-AMG has also equipped the four-seater with a dedicated sound which replicates that of one of the brand’s V8 engines.Inside, there are a variety of driver controls, with a ‘response control’ rotary dial helping to change the responsiveness of the accelerator. An ‘agility control’ changes the cornering characteristics, while a ‘traction control’ dial gives the driver nine different settings of traction control. These work in conjunction with a full multifunction steering wheel to provide the driver with the best-possible control over the car’s settings.A full panoramic sunroof is also included, but this can also display illuminated logos such as the AMG crest or even racing stripes.AdvertisementAdvertisementAll cars ride on air suspension as standard with semi-active roll stabilisation to help reduce body movement when cornering. The exterior of the car also features a number of active aero sections, with an extendable rear spoiler working in conjunction with splitters and diffusers to manage downforce.Mercedes is expected to announce full pricing and specifications for the AMG GT 4-Door soon.
