Gasgoo Munich- CATL has expanded its strategic partnership with the government of Xiamen, as both sides move to accelerate the development of a zero-carbon technology hub and deepen cooperation across the new energy industry chain. The two parties recently held discussions on future collaboration and witnessed the signing of a series of related projects.Image source: CATLUnder its "3+1" urban transformation and industrial upgrade framework, Xiamen is actively building a modern industrial ecosystem with a strong focus on new energy innovation. CATL's long-term development strategy aligns closely with the city's ambitions. The battery giant has already established a broad industrial footprint in Xiamen through projects spanning investment, research and development, manufacturing, and after-sales services. Existing operations include Xiamen CATL, Ampace, Contemporary Amperex Energy Service Technology Ltd. ("CAES"), an energy storage testing laboratory, and a carbon neutrality investment fund, forming a relatively complete new energy value chain within the city. The latest agreements will center on three major areas of cooperation.First, CATL plans to establish a regional manufacturing base for high-performance EV and energy storage lithium batteries in Xiamen. The facility will integrate battery cell, module, and battery pack production, further strengthening the city's growing new energy battery supply chain cluster.Second, AutoFlight will expand cooperation with the Xiamen municipal government in the low-altitude economy sector through its eVTOL aircraft business. The partnership aims to create an integrated ecosystem covering operational scenarios, fleet deployment, infrastructure networks, and industrial clustering, laying the groundwork for a standardized and scalable urban air mobility system.Third, the two sides will jointly advance cutting-edge research in new energy technologies while strengthening high-level talent cultivation programs to support the city's long-term industrial competitiveness.Looking ahead, CATL and Xiamen plan to push forward the construction of the zero-carbon technology city through closer collaboration in innovation, industrial concentration, application scenarios, and international partnerships. The initiative is intended to position Xiamen as a national benchmark for zero-carbon industries, a leading center for new energy innovation, and an international gateway for industrial cooperation.
