BMW has added a clever safety feature to the 2027 iX3 designed to account for human errors, such as opening a door when a cyclist or pedestrian passes by. If the system detects an approaching road user, it can override the door-unlocking mechanism, allowing the passenger to pull the handle but preventing the door from opening until it is safe to do so.The iX3 will be the first production model from the Neue Klasse lineup to feature the upgraded Exit Warning system. The technology is designed to protect occupants and other road users when a door is opened, using side-mounted radar to continuously monitor the area around the parked vehicle for approaching cars, pedestrians, e-scooters, and other potential hazards.If the system detects that opening a door could result in a collision, the vehicle temporarily keeps the door latch locked. In such a situation, the system can take control of the vehicle, bring it to a controlled stop, switch on the hazard lights, and place an emergency call.The iX3 also features a Pedal Misapplication Override designed to prevent accidental acceleration at very low speeds. If the vehicle is traveling below roughly 1.2 mph and detects an obstacle within one meter, the system can disregard an unusually hard accelerator input and apply the brakes instead.The BMW X5 Not Missing Out on AnythingBeyond the iX3, BMW has also been making headlines for the new X5, and Motorbiscuit recently shared some of its standout features. One of them is its motorized doors, which operate in a way similar to those on the ultra-exclusive Ferrari Purosangue. The SUV also offers an optional passenger-side screen with access to YouTube and games, which can be controlled using a Bluetooth gamepad.
