Enter the 1 Series M Coupe, a high-performance coupe variant of the first-generation 1 Series. Commonly referred to as the 1M, it's one of the most engaging M cars ever built, thanks to its compact size, turbocharged straight-six engine, manual gearbox, and rear-wheel-drive layout. One of the few examples to make it to North America has been listed for sale, and given this particular M car's massive cult following, it could attract an especially high bid in the days to come. What It's Worth Right Now2011 BMW 1M CoupeCars & BidsView the 4 images of this gallery on the original articleAdvertisementAdvertisementThis 2011 BMW 1M was purchased for $50,460 originally. That price includes the Valencia Orange paint ($550), Premium Package ($2,400), heated front seats ($500), and the destination charge ($875).Sold in the U.S. only for the 2011 model year, the most expensive 1M previously sold on Cars & Bids went for $86,500 last year, but that model had only 2,900 miles. On Bring A Trailer, a 2,500-mile model sold for $116,000 in 2022. Higher-mileage examples sell for closer to $50,000, and the Valencia Orange unit seen here has already attracted a high bid of $50,000; that's close to the base price of a brand-new M240i.Given the fact that it's not completely unmodified, has covered 62,500 miles, and previously sustained some minor bodywork damage, we don't expect the high bid to set any records, but it may get closer to the $60K mark before bidding ends. After all, the car's rarity (fewer than 1,000 units were imported to North America) remains a unique selling point.Related: The 7 Best BMW Models of the 21st CenturyCondition and Details2011 BMW 1M CoupeCars & BidsView the 4 images of this gallery on the original articleAdvertisementAdvertisementThis 2011 BMW 1M Coupe features a 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine producing 335 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque. The listing suggests that it may produce more power, based on modifications like a VRSF five-inch intercooler and Evolution Raceworks N54 charge pipe, but no dyno sheet was supplied to confirm this. Power goes to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. The odometer reads 62,500 miles and the most recent service was in August 2026, when the engine oil and filter were changed. The seller notes that this 1M may not pass emissions tests in certain states due to the modifications that have been made. Known flaws include minor damage to the rear of the car in August 2015, when the rear bumper, passenger-side taillight, and trunk lid were replaced. The front bumper was previously replaced, too, and while there are some minor blemishes, it appears to be in a very neat overall condition. This is a well-specified example, as the Premium Package includes power front seats, auto-dimming mirrors, iPod and USB adapters, lumbar support, and ambiance lighting. It's worth noting that this 1M was used as a press vehicle before being purchased by the original owner, which isn't ideal as it may have been driven hard early in its life.Compared to a current M2, the 1M is nearly eight inches shorter and over 500 pounds lighter, which goes to show how much even the smallest M car has grown.Related: BMW M Cars: Why the Slower Manual Still Wins for EnthusiastsThe Offer2011 BMW 1M CoupeCars & BidsSpecificationDetailMakeBMWModel1 Series M CoupeYear2011Mileage62,500 milesEngine3.0L I6 TurboPower335 hp/332 lb-ftTransmission6-speed manualDrive TypeRWDExterior ColorValencia Orange MetallicInterior ColorBlackCurrent Bid$50,000LocationGloucester, MATo see the car's full maintenance history and a complete gallery of images, you can view the listing here.My Take2011 BMW 1M CoupeCars & BidsThis is not the most flawless BMW 1M Coupe ever seen. It's modified, doesn't have the lowest miles, and sustained minor damage. However, it's a rare opportunity to get one of the most engaging M cars for a reasonably attainable price, as it's very unlikely to get near six figures. There's plenty of life left in this 1M, it has a comprehensive service history, and the damage it did sustain appears to have been professionally repaired. By modern M-car standards, the 1M delivers a raw, unfiltered driving experience and is not burdened by excessive weight or technology. That, together with its exclusivity, makes it a highly desirable performance car.Related: Future Classic: BMW 1 Series (E82)This story was originally published by Autoblog on Sep 21, 2026, where it first appeared in the Car Buying section.
