If you actually head over to the BLUETTI website, there’s an enormous range of portable power products you can buy, for all sorts of needs and all sorts of people. One thing that hit me recently is how much these really do cut the use of polluting fossil fuels. In so many cases, these are replacing or being used instead of fossil-fueled generators, which are especially inefficient and polluting. They are also used by some people (including myself now) to utilize TOU pricing — using portable power systems to power devices and appliances during times of higher electricity costs (during the day typically) and then recharging the portable power systems during times of low electricity costs (after midnight typically). That makes the most use of existing electricity generation and prevents the need to fire up more expensive, polluting power plants. Of course, they are also simply used while going off grid for a bit — camping, for example — and to shore up patchy electricity in regions where the lights can go out quite frequently but not necessarily for long. They can even be used, as I use one small portable power station, around town where electricity sources aren’t convenient or exactly where you want them. People all over the world face these kinds of challenges and need these kinds of solutions. Again, this hit me when I found out where BLUETTI is displaying products this week — at RE+ Mexico. Yes, people down in Mexico can benefit from all of these things as well. I read and speak only basic Spanish, but here are a couple of screenshots of a Spanish brochure for a BLUETTI system available down in Mexico and being displayed at RE+ Mexico this week: Then, it will also be a participant at our coming Hawaii Electric Home Show. Hawaii is definitely a place where high fuel costs and higher daytimes electricity prices. Hawaii’s “Shift and Save” Time-of-Use (TOU) program allows the kind of load shifting that helps out the grid while also helping you out, and BLUETTI products can again be helpful in maximizing that. BLUETTI will be displaying multiple portable power solutions at the Hawaii event, CleanTechnica‘s first. These include the following: Apex 300 B500K — expansion battery PV350 — complementary solar panels The Apex 300 is one of those “Goldilocks” portable power stations in my opinion. It’s got a lot of energy storage, so it can be useful as backup throughout the day or for multiple days — depending on what you are backing up — but it doesn’t have so much energy storage that its unmanageable or extra expensive. It has multiple ports and great specs. Whether to back you up in the case of extreme weather events and extended loss of electricity, to cover more common but shorter duration electricity outages, to provide solid energy storage capacity while camping or elsewhere off the grid, or to take advantage of TOU electricity pricing and energy arbitrage (probably in combination with one or more of those other uses), the Apex 300 is a solid, competitive option. Then there’s the B500K expansion battery if you decide you want even more energy storage capacity some of the time, and there’s the PV350 portable solar panel array that can recharge the Apex 300 if you are really expecting to be off the grid for an extended period of time and are able to collect sunshine to make the battery extra useful. Here are some more details from a brochure on the Apex 300: From Hawaii to Mexico to Florida to New York, these portable power solutions and others from BLUETTI can save the day. If you are in Honolulu in coming weeks, check out these BLUETTI solutions at our Electric Home Show, or find the next local event where you can view and play with the products.
