Acura Is About to Unveil a New Design LanguageAcuraAcura has announced that it will reveal a new concept car next week at The Quail. The concept will debut a new design language that will appear on future Acuras, starting in a couple of years with the next-generation RDX.The teaser image shows the car's taillights, which consist of two sharp LED lines that are angled towards each other to create an arrow-like shape. Each year, hordes of car enthusiasts embark on a pilgrimage to the California coast for Monterey Car Week, an annual festival of automotive obsession that culminates in the famed Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. One of the other main events is a show called The Quail, where many of the world's most prestigious manufacturers unveil their latest supercars and concepts. Now, we know that Acura will be one of the stars of this year's Quail event, with the company announcing its plans to reveal a new concept via a shadowy teaser image.Acura hasn't yet said what the concept car will be called or what form it will take, but the company did reveal that the concept car will debut a new design language that will appear across the Acura lineup in the coming years. The single image shows the car's taillights, which appear as two sharp lines angled towards each other, creating an arrow of sorts that points at the illuminated Acura branding. There are also thin vertically oriented LEDs situated above and below the white Acura lettering, which likely serve as brake lights. The Acura Hybrid SUV prototype.HondaThe shape of the taillights echoes the look seen on the Acura Hybrid SUV prototype shown earlier this year (pictured above). That's no coincidence, since Acura says the design language that will appear on this new concept will migrate to the fourth-generation RDX SUV, which is set to arrive in the next couple of years with a hybrid powertrain. The Hybrid SUV prototype is likely an early preview of the next-gen RDX.AdvertisementAdvertisementThere aren't any other details on the new concept car just yet, but we won't have to wait long to find out more. The Acura concept will be unveiled on August 14 at The Quail, and it will also make an appearance on the Concept Lawn at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance on August 16.➡️ Skip the lot.
