Some accidents look like outtakes from a Michael Bay reel, and they make the case for how quickly a road can turn against you. A surreal incident in British Columbia left even veteran first responders doing a double take when a motorcycle was found dangling from a traffic light after a collision with a BMW. It happened just before 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, above the busy intersection of Scott Road and 71st Avenue in North Delta. As seen in videos shared on social media, including by Sarbraj Singh Kahlon on X and by users on Reddit, the superbike, which looks like a Suzuki GSX-R1000R 40th Anniversary Edition, was launched skyward by the force of the impact with a silver BMW 3-Series sedan. CCTV footage circulating online shows the rider being thrown forward and landing on the pavement. Video Reddit The BMW appears to have been making a left turn into a mall entrance at the intersection. The motorcyclist’s speed could have played a role too, giving him almost no time to react. It wasn’t enough to avoid or soften the impact, and the nose of the sedan became a launch ramp. While the imagery is jarring, fortunately, the outcome was less grim than it looks. According to authorities, the motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The BMW driver was luckier as they reportedly walked away unhurt. Delta Firefighters, the local police, and the British Columbia Emergency Health Services arrived on the scene to provide immediate care. Following the initial rescue, fire crews helped bring the superbike back to the ground and clean up the debris.
