3 row ev best all electric suv people haulers The rate in-which electric vehicles (EVs) are evolving is exceptional. Not too long ago, electric cars were either small sub-compacts with limited range, or high-priced toys for the rich. Now, EVs are wholly part of the automotive landscape. Sedans, SUVs, Pickup Trucks, and Sports Cars; EVs come in all shapes and sizes and at nearly all price points. One area that's still growing is the segment of 3 row EV SUV s. With three row SUVs built to haul a multitude of people over long distances, weight and driving range are two factors engineers are having to overcome. Some manufacturers have been in this segment for a while now, while others are starting to come on board and soon there will be close to a dozen 3 row EV SUV choices. Below we have summarized each of these vehicles, listed in alphabetical order. Cadillac Escalade iQ Image: Kyle Patrick Image: Kyle Patrick Starting our list is the largest all-electric three-row SUV currently on sale, and one of the priciest, the Cadillac Escalade iQ. It offers everything everything expected in an Escalade, just without burning gasoline. At 224.3-inches in length, there is plenty of space inside for three rows of passengers, of course coddled in optimal luxury. The Escalade iQ is no lightweight, tipping the scales at over 8,000 pounds. This is due to a 205 kWh battery pack that can deliver upwards of 465 miles on a single charge. The big SUV is also quick thanks to a dual motor set up that makes 750 hp and 785 lb-ft of torque. Official figures have it hitting 0-60 mph in just over 4.5 seconds. Cadillac Vistiq Image: Kyle Patrick Image: Kyle Patrick If the Cadillac Escalade iQ is a bit too big for you, the brand has a slightly smaller three-row all-electric SUV available as well. Called the Vistiq, it's a more appropriately scaled three-row SUV that follows Cadillac's naming and styling conventions for the manufacturer's all-electric offerings. At 205.6-inches in length, it's still large, and does have an available all-wheel drive system that produces 615 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. Cadillac claims this is good enough for a 0-60 mph time of 3.7 seconds which is ridiculous for a family hauler, but we're here for it. The 102 kWh battery pack is capable of delivering 305 miles of range in optimal conditions. Hyundai IONIQ 9 Image: Kyle Patrick Image: Kyle Patrick At the more affordable end of the three-row all-electric SUV world is the Hyundai IONIQ 9. During our first drive of the SUV, we stated "Like the Palisade before it, the Ioniq 9 brings the brand up-market, with a swanky three-row EV that is quiet, comfortable, and so darned likeable." Power comes from a set of motors powering all four wheels. combining to make 422 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. With a range of 310 miles on a single charge, pricing starts at just over $60,000 including destination charges. Kia EV9 3 row ev best all electric suv people haulers The corporate cousin to the Hyundai IONIQ 9, the Kia EV9 is a boxier take on a three-row all-electric SUV. On the market first, the EV9 can be had as a single motor powering the rear wheels or dual motors powering all four wheels. Depending on battery size, the rear-wheel drive model can travel up to 305 miles on a single charge while the all-wheel drive versions can do upwards of 283 miles. With the smaller battery and rear-wheel drive, the EV9 is one of the most affordable all-electric three-row SUVs on sale, starting well below $60,000. Lucid Gravity Image Kyle Patrick Image Kyle Patrick A newer player to the market, Lucid's first SUV is the three-row, all-electric Gravity. During his first drive of the vehicle, Kyle Patrick stated "Big power, big range, and big space in a not-quite-so-big package makes the Gravity an immediately appealing entry into the luxo-SUV segment, but the brand will need to fix some teething issues to turn this into a home run." Power figures can get up as high as 828 hp and 909 lb-ft of torque, which can propel this SUV from 0-60 mph in the mid three-second range. On less powerful, more sensible versions, upwards of 450 miles can be had on a single charge. Mercedes-Benz EQB 2026 Bentley Flying Spure Azure: All the Details 3 row ev best all electric suv people haulers EQ is Mercedes-Benz all-electric sub-brand. It uses the same naming convention as regular Mercedes models by affixing the vehicle's segment after the EQ moniker. So the EQB SUV is essentially an all-electric alternative to the current GLB compact crossover. Like its gasoline powered sibling, the EQB is offered with a third-row of seating, albeit a fairly cramped one. The EQB 250 is then entry level vehicle with a 188 hp electric motor. The top model is the EQB 350 which will have a dual motor setup good for 288 hp. Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV 3 row ev best all electric suv people haulers Like the EQB, the larger Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV is an all-electric alternative to the gasoline powered GLS SUV. More rounded and modern looking, the EQS SUV borrows some design cues and technology from the recently introduced EQS sedan. Power for the large SUV comes from either a 355 hp electric motor in the EQS 400 trim level, or a 536 HP set-up in the dual motor EQS 550 4MATIC. Being a larger vehicle, there is more room for third row passengers in this EV SUV. Of course, pricing for the EQS SUV will also significantly higher than the EQB starting well into the six-figure range. Rivian R1S 3 row ev best all electric suv people haulers One of the more traditional looking SUVs on our list, the all-electric Rivian R1S measures over 200 inches in length, making it one of the more spacious third row options on our list. It is also one of the most off-road ready three-row EV SUVs, with a maximum ground clearance that can reach as high as 14.9 inches. Powering the R1S will be a choice of two, three, or even four electric motors. The most power delivers a staggering 1,025 hp with a 0-60 mph time of 2.6 seconds. Sticking to the dual-motor set-up with the larger battery can net upwards of 410 miles on a single charge. Tesla Model Y 3 row ev best all electric suv people haulers The Tesla Model Y, like the Mercedes-Benz EQB, is more of a compact EV SUV that still has a third row seating option. The standard version Model Y is rear-wheel drive and features the ability to travel upwards of 321 miles on a single charge. Stepping up to the premium adds more power and a larger battery, increasing range to 357 miles. The other version of the Model Y is the dual-motor, all-wheel drive Performance that can reach 0 to 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds. The Performance has less range at 303 miles and does not offer a third row of seating. VinFast VF 9 3 row ev best all electric suv people haulers Perhaps the most unknown quantity on this list is the VinFast VF 9. VinFast is a relatively new automobile manufacturer based out of Vietnam. The brand plans to make a big impact in a short period of time, refocused as an all-electric vehicle manufacturer that is now expanding globally. This expansion includes Canada and the United States, where the two-row VF 8 is currently on sale. The latest offering is the 3 row VF 9. Initially, two trim levels are available, the Eco or the Plus. All vehicles are equipped with 402 hp from a dual motor setup. The Eco with Enhanced Range can travel up to 330 miles on a single charge. Being a boxier, more traditional shaped SUV like the Rivian R1S, third row space is decent in the VinFast VF9. Volkswagen ID.Buzz 3 row ev best all electric suv people haulers The only entry here that is not an SUV is the Volkswagen ID.Buzz, which is returning after a 1-year hiatus. Initially launched a few years ago, the super-spacious, funky styled van was a great people hauler, but offered limited range and a high price tag. Although we are still awaiting 2027 model year details, those two factors should be addressed and we can't wait to see what the updated ID.Buzz has to offer. Volvo EX90 3 row ev best all electric suv people haulers Another brand that jumped into the three-row EV market is Volvo. The EX90 is a large, three-row SUV, offering all the usual Volvo safety and sensibility. Nearly as long as the Rivian R1S, the EX90 includes 5 radars, 8 cameras, long-range lidar, and 16 ultrasonic sensors. Equipped with a 111-kWh battery pack, the EX90 can travel up to 305 miles on a single charge. The all-wheel drive, dual-motor EV has an optional 670 hp set-up that is capable of running from 0 to 60 mph in 4.0 seconds. 2026 GMC Acadia AT4: All the Details
