It still comes with either a 255-hp 2.0-liter 4-cylinder or a 375-hp 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder, with a 9-speed automatic transmission and 4Matic AWD, though RWD is available on the base car. There is a 604-hp AMG E53 as well, but we review it separately.AdvertisementAdvertisementThe latest E-Class is still a very stylish and luxurious car, with the 3rd-generation MBUX infotainment system and dual displays, standard AMG body styling, and a high level of standard features in a conveniently sized midsize package.2024-2026 Mercedes E-Class in Verde SilverMercedesWhat's New for 2027The 2027 E-Class sails into the new model year completely unchanged, save for a $1,300 price increase across all trims.2024-2026 Mercedes-Benz E-Class in Verde SilverMercedesView the 2 images of this gallery on the original articleExteriorAMG body styling with sporty skirts, aprons, and rocker panels, 18-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic roof, and all-LED exterior lighting are standard on all trims, while options include an illuminated grille, 20- or 21-inch wheels, progressive degrees of blacked-out exterior trim via the Night or Night Edition packages, a rear spoiler, soft-close doors, air suspension, and Digital Light LED headlights, which project navigational cues onto the road surface ahead of the car.2027 Mercedes-Benz E-Class in Polar WhiteMercedes-BenzView the 3 images of this gallery on the original articleInteriorSomewhat disappointingly, you have to make do with MB-Tex leatherette upholstery, but leather is optional. Standard amenities include heated power front seats with memory, dual-zone climate control, and 64-color adjustable ambient lighting; for extra money, you can add ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel and rear seats, and a leatherette-trimmed dashtop. The finishes of the premium materials are top-class, and woodgrain trim is standard.AdvertisementAdvertisementThe 3rd-generation "zero-layer" MBUX multimedia system comprises a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and 14.4-inch touchscreen, and standard system features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, HD Radio, augmented-reality navigation, a surround-view camera, biometric authentication, and a 6-speaker audio system. You really need no more than the base car, which already comes with the full feature set, but we are a little disappointed that leather upholstery, a HUD, and driver aids like traffic-sign recognition and adaptive cruise control aren't standard at this price, so perhaps the $3,400 Pinnacle sub-trim is a good add-on to get the HUD and 16-speaker Burmester audio. Other negatives are few, and mainly include the small trunk and lack of complimentary maintenance. Regardless, the E-Class still holds its own against the usual suspects, such as the Audi A6 and BMW 5 Series, as a classy choice in this segment.2027 Mercedes-Benz E-Class in Polar White with 19-inch AMG wheelsMercedes-BenzCompetitorsBMW 5 SeriesAudi A6Genesis G80Lexus ESCadillac CT5AdvertisementAdvertisementThis story was originally published by Autoblog on Aug 5, 2026, where it first appeared in the Cars section.
