If you do not remember the name Hyosung, you may remember (vice versa) the Naza Blade 250 and 650 which were sold in Malaysia from 2005 and becoming extremely popular by 2011. They will be launching the Hyosung GV250X in Japan, come June 2026. Hyosung is based in South Korea and we have not heard of them for many years since then. Contrary to popular belief, they never went out of business. Instead they were drowned out by the meteoric rise of more competitively priced Chinese makes, including Benelli and CFMoto. Back to the the GV250X, it uses another V-Twin engine like its predecessors, setting it apart from its competition, usually powered by singles or parallel-twins. This time, the liquid-cooled 60-degree V-twin displacing 248.4cc, making about 25.3 horsepower at 9,500 rpm. It is obvious that Hyosung is not going after peak power, but rather for a low-RPM torque pulse. Other features include traction control, ABS, USD forks, and a belt final drive. That last one is a big deal for new riders. Less maintenance, less noise, and no need to deal with chain lube. Seat height is a low 740 mm, while curb weight is claimed at 180 kg. Styling wise, the GV250X features the muscular looks of a power cruiser. Lighting is fully-LED, of course, plus the modern pre-requisite of USB charging ports. There are reports that the Hyosung GV250X will be priced at JPY731,500 (RM18,405.85). Will the brand make a comeback to Malaysia?
