Coupes as long and wide as modern SUVs with cloud-like suspension and couch-like seats may have been a staple of American luxury at one point, but they've all but disappeared in the new-car market. However, American automakers haven't given up completely — land yachts simply express themselves in different forms now. Lincoln once gave us the fifth-gen Continental that sold from 1970 through 1979. Today, however, even more luxury is offered in the Navigator full-size SUV.Not only is the brand's current flagship SUV the most luxurious model in its lineup, but buyers can work their way up the trims to reach the opulent Black Label variant. Let's see what makes it so special, go over the Navigator's interior theme, and see how the model stacks up to the competition. The 2026 Lincoln Navigator LincolnAs Lincoln's largest model, it's only fitting that the Navigator comes with a powerful engine. The 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 is the same powertrain as found in the Ford Expedition, since the two models share a platform. Lincoln makes no sacrifices when tuning this beast, though, and it has enough power flowing through a 10-speed automatic transmission to launch the machine to 60 mph from a standstill in about 5.6 seconds. That's more impressive when you realize the Navigator weighs about 6,000 pounds. Four-wheel drive is standard, and both the standard and extended variants can tow up to 8,700 pounds, putting it on par with some half-ton trucks. What is Black Label, and Why is it Special? FordThe Black Label trim level is, simply put, the highest trim on most Lincoln models (excluding the Corsair, which is the brand's cheapest model). Black Label was first introduced in 2014 to set a benchmark "through exquisite design details and personalized service offerings," according to Lincoln. It uses the finest, highest-quality materials, like real wood, aluminum, and leather, to craft interiors worth relaxing in.Lincoln ensures its buyers can rest in the most luxurious cabin possible by offering a host of standard features in the Navigator's top trim. There are more comfort features than we can reasonably list in this article, so here are some highlights: tri-zone automatic climate control, acoustic laminated side door glass, Perfect Position 30-way driver's seat and 28-way front passenger seat, heated and ventilated front and second-row seats, heated third row seats, a 28-speaker Revel Ultima 3D Surround Sound system, and much more.Choosing the Black Label trim also grants buyers 70,000 Lincoln Access Rewards points, remote new vehicle delivery, a premium maintenance plan for four years or 50,000 miles, complimentary car washes at your local Black Label retailer for the entire duration of the first owner's ownership, and a one-year complimentary membership with the Calm app.Navigator Black Label buyers can also choose among three interior themes. While many other automakers give buyers the ability to pick interior colors and materials individually, Lincoln offers all-encompassing themes with coherent colorways and fine materials throughout the interior. Black Label Invitation Theme LincolnPictured above is the pre-facelift Navigator with its Invitation theme, since no high-quality photos of the current facelift have been released. That said, the biggest change is an ultra-wide, curved digital display, as seen in the next two theme sections. Lincoln describes the "Invitation" theme as celebrating "the community of friendship via dark, rich Khaya wood, supple black leather-trimmed seats, and detailed brandy stitching." In other words, this is the darkest colorway. A geometric laser motif on the edges adorns the real wood accent trim. There's Dinamica suede cloth for the headliner and floor mats, and the seats have micro-perforation to help with ventilation. Black Label Enlighten Theme LincolnThe Enlighten theme takes inspiration from the sunrise, or the dawn of a new day. It's equipped with horizon grid appliques, a "warm horizon" leather-wrapped interior with dark flint contrast stitching, and first- and second-row "opulence seating surfaces" with horizon perforation. The headliner is made from Dinamica suede in Ebony, and the floor mats/carpets are Espresso suede. This theme lightens the mood over the Invitation theme, but still feels warm inside. Black Label Atmospheric Theme FordThere's also the Atmospheric theme. Choosing this theme means spending an extra $3,495. Still, it comes with the brighter interior seen in the photo above, along with a Radiant Copper-colored badge, a Radiant Copper grille with full jewel and lit grille bar, and Radiant Copper 24-inch aluminum wheels with a machined finish. To tie all of that together, buyers can opt for a $2,000 paint job in Sunrise Copper Metallic. The interior features "diamond drizzle" perforated seats, Salt Crystal grey suede headliner and leather surfaces, Atmospheric Ash appliques, and more. Bigger, Better Road Presence LincolnWe mentioned how this is the modern interpretation of an American land yacht — that's not far-fetched when you feel the immense size of the Navigator and Navigator L. Even the standard version is as long as a Ford Expedition, at 210 inches. The extended variant adds about 12 inches in length, increasing cargo capacity by only 14.6 cubic feet. Third-row occupants in both variants will be more than comfortable, with 43.5 inches of legroom and 37.4 inches of headroom. This massive full-size body-on-frame SUV looks and feels like it dominates the road. How the Navigator Black Label Compares to Rivals 2026 Cadillac Escalade Platinum Sport CadillacAny buyer considering the Navigator Black Label will also take a look at the Cadillac Escalade. It's available in a handful of trims that top out with the Platinum Sport trim (excluding the V-Series model). It costs about the same as the Navigator's top trim level and delivers plenty of power. What most buyers at this level are concerned about, though, is its interior and comfort features. The Escalade Platinum Sport is equipped with a 38-speaker AKGStudio Reference Surround Audio System, a 16-way power driver, and front-passenger heated and ventilated seats with four-way lumbar and massage functions, the Touring Package with front and rear soft-close doors, Power Open/Close Doors, and air ride suspension, and more. 2026 Infiniti QX80 Autograph Jared Rosenholtz/CarBuzz/ValnetTo throw a foreign curveball into the mix, we want to introduce the latest Infiniti QX80. It's not an American land yacht, but it directly rivals the Navigator as a full-size, body-on-frame, three-row luxury SUV. At the top of the QX80's lineup is the Autograph trim. The QX80 uses the same twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 powertrain as the rest of the trims, allowing it to tow up to 8,500 pounds. On the inside, there are quilted semi-aniline leather-appointed seating across all three rows, heated and ventilated front- and second-row seats, massaging front- and second-row seats, a 24-speaker Klipsch Reference Premiere Audio System, and much more. American Luxury is Here to Stay with Black Label FordThe Navigator Black Label is more than just a trim level — it represents Ford's version of the best American luxury can provide. Buyers don't just gain access to the plushest, most comfortable interior on the market, but a handful of exclusive perks like free car washes, complimentary maintenance for four years, and more. Try as the competition might, the Navigator has real road presence, which, when combined with its interior amenities, makes the driver feel high and mighty.Sources: Lincoln, Cadillac, Infiniti
