'Want to Trade It In? Absolutely Not:' Dealership Worker Says This Ford Is the Hottest Car Now. Why Does Everyone Want One?

A man making the dealership rounds was surprised to find that his diesel Ford Excursion was all of a sudden a sought-after commodity.
TiKTok user JRay (@jray0249) is the proud owner of a diesel Ford Excursion. He just didn’t know how proud others would be to own one until he stopped by a few of his local dealerships.
“Out of all the dealerships I went to in the past couple of days, I find it interesting that every single one of them, as soon as I pulled into the parking lot, the first question they asked was, ‘Do you want to trade in that diesel Ford Excursion?” JRay says. “Bro, absolutely not. “
The Diesel Ford Excursion
JRay isn’t imagining things: The Ford Excursion is, in fact, one of the jewels of the current resale market. For example, the 2003 Eddie Bauer Sport Utility 4D features a 6.0 L V8 turbo diesel engine, 44 gallons of fuel capacity, 325 horsepower, 560-lb-ft of torque, 11,000 pounds of towing capacity, and 4WD. Kelley Blue Book reviewers note its reliability, spacious interior, and handling.
According to a recent blog by Diesel Army, the diesel Excursion is indeed experiencing a resurgence two decades after Ford discontinued the model. That’s because of its “unmatched” towing capacity and its roomy interior with space for the entire crew.
A search of Autotrader reveals that used Ford Excursions can go anywhere from about $5,000 to upwards of $35,000, depending on the engine, condition, and accident history.

“If you’re an Excursion owner, this is not news,” wrote one proud Excursion owner.
“It blows my mind that Ford isn’t producing as many of these as humanly possible,” wrote a second person. “Can you imagine a brand-new 2026 Excursion with a 500 horsepower, 6.7 Power Stroke in it?”
One person said they recently sold one—but only because they didn’t need the family towing capacity anymore. “Last year, in May, I traded my 2003 Ford Excursion v10 engine with 399,550 miles on it. They gave me $4,500 for it. Never had a problem with it. Kids are grown and gone.”
Another person said, “I have an ‘03 Eddie Bauer Excursion turbo diesel. Lifted a bit on 35’s. People ask me all the time to sell it. NOPE. She is my baby.”
