Toyota’s new Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid arrives in Australia with 457 horsepower. The i-Force Max powertrain pairs a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 with an electric motor. Buyers can choose between the GR Sport and the more luxurious Sahara ZX trim. Toyota has officially launched the Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid in Australia, expanding the electrified flagship’s footprint after earlier rollouts in the Middle East and parts of Eastern Europe. It’s the most powerful Land Cruiser ever sold and the most expensive too, though it still undercuts its Lexus LX700h cousin by a wide margin. Two flavors are on offer. The off-road-focused GR Sport carries over the familiar body kit from its standard V6 counterpart, while the luxury-leaning Sahara ZX gets a unique front bumper with reshaped intakes to set the hybrid apart. Beyond the visuals, both share the same i-Force Max twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 hybrid setup that’s already doing duty in the Tundra and Lexus LX700h. Hybrid Powertrain Details The “performance hybrid” uses Toyota’s i-Force Max powertrain, producing a combined 457 hp (341 kW / 464 PS) and 790 Nm (583 lb-ft) of torque. That gives the most powerful Land Cruiser ever made an extra 153 hp (114 kW / 155 PS) and 90 Nm (66 lb-ft) over the standard 3.3-liter V6 turbodiesel. More: The Land Cruiser Kept Topping Japan’s Theft Charts, So Toyota Added A Kill Switch The self-charging hybrid system combines a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 with a single electric motor. Power goes to all four wheels through a 10-speed automatic transmission and Toyota’s familiar 4WD system. The GR Sport also keeps its upgraded suspension and electronic differential locks. Besides the powertrain, hybrid-specific features include the electric power steering and an upgraded 1,500W power socket at the back. The only drawback is the lack of a three-row seven-seater option, as the electrified model is exclusively available with five seats. How Much Will Buyers Pay? The Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid is scheduled to arrive at Australian dealers in mid-2026. The GR Sport starts at AU$ 156,060 (US$ 111,700), while the Sahara ZX is slightly more expensive at AU$ 156,810 (US$ 112,300). Neither figure includes on-road costs. More: The Land Cruiser 70 Was Built For The Outback, Toyota Just Made One For The City The hybrid commands an AU$ 8,900 (US$ 6,400) premium over equivalent V6-powered Land Cruiser 300 trims. It also becomes the second most expensive Toyota currently sold in Australia, sitting behind the RHD-converted Tundra Platinum with the i-Force Max hybrid setup. Even so, the flagship Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid Sahara ZX still lands around AU$ 40,000 ($28,700) below the mechanically related Lexus LX 700h, which occupies a different corner of the luxury SUV market.
