This classic Mercedes has recently been serviced and restored. The car is painted in Smoke Silver Metallic with the original wheels. Shockingly, the car still has its original 1985 tires, so it will need new ones. Many modern cars lack even an ounce of personality, serving simply as a means of transport for those looking to get from point A to point B. This 1985 Mercedes-Benz W123 300D Turbo couldn’t be any different. Mercedes-Benzes of this era have a reputation for exceptional build quality and engines that can run for decades. What makes this model particularly special is that it’s been driven just 18,000 miles (around 29,000 km) since new and is no doubt one of the lowest-mileage examples in the United States. Read: $54M Mercedes W 196 R Is One Of The Most Expensive Cars Ever Sold Listed for auction through Bring a Trailer, the car was reportedly sold new in Massachusetts and includes an accident-free Carfax report, despite its age. Painted in Smoke Silver Metallic with the original 14-inch alloy wheels, and complete with black and chrome bumpers, it’s the perfect antidote to modern commuter cars. Refreshed And Refurbished Bring a Trailer The listing notes the car was recently serviced and refurbished by Woods & Barclay in Georgia, a Mercedes-Benz specialist. Given the low mileage, the 3.0-liter naturally-aspirated turbo-diesel inline-five should be mostly trouble-free if it’s well-maintained moving forward. With 123 hp and 184 lb-ft (249 Nm) of torque, the engine isn’t particularly spritely, but it definitely has character. Mated to it is a four-speed automatic transmission. Bring a Trailer Inside, the upholstery is black across the seats, door panels, and dashboard. There are also loads of Zebrano wood trim found throughout, automatic climate control, and the original Becker Grand Prix stereo remains in place. While the car looks to be in fabulous condition, it will need a new set of tires before the next owner even thinks about driving it, as it still has the original rubber fitted, dating back all the way to 1985. Included in the sale are a spare set of wheels, but they, too, are equipped with Continental tires from 1985.
