Sure, the current GTD grabs headlines and has enthusiasts salivating, but more ordinary Mustangs became special because they were part of people's everyday lives. You bought one, took care of it, and over the miles it wrote its own tale.Bring a TrailerHave we got a Stang story for you from over at Bring a Trailer (which, like Car and Driver, is part of Hearst Autos). It's a 1967 Mustang Coupe that has been in the same family for just shy of half a century, racking up more than 350,000 miles in that time. Owned and driven in California and obviously well cared for, it's not just a time capsule, but a machine that has lived through all the events described by Billy Joel in We Didn't Start the Fire and then some.Bring a TrailerReportedly driven and then stored in the San Diego area its entire life, this Mustang accrued much of its mileage in regular use by its first owner. As transportation for a traveling IBM typewriter salesman, later a real-estate agent, this diamond blue pony never appears to have put a foot wrong. Not to anthropomorphize two tons of glass, rubber, and steel too much, but it also appears to have been a longtime fan of the Padres.Bring a TrailerFrom 2012 to 2024, this Mustang spent its time in storage and was refreshed upon being pulled out. The brakes and steering were upgraded, the suspension refreshed, and all-important new tires were added. The cooling system was also overhauled, with a new radiator, heater core, and hoses.AdvertisementAdvertisementIt's no Shelby GT350, but the 289-cubic-inch V-8 makes all the right noises and offers up around 200 horsepower worth of get-up-and-go. Paired with a three-speed automatic transmission, it's more a nostalgia-hued cruiser than a drag-strip warrior, but guess what? Not all Mustangs were built to be ridden hard and put away wet.Bring a TrailerThis one certainly wasn't, and it has clearly benefited from having been somebody's pride and joy for years and years. Cosmetically, it's not perfect, with some wear and tear noted on the interior, but as an honest and hard-working pony car, it's nowhere near ready to be put out to pasture yet. This Mustang's story is long, but far from over. The auction ends on September 30.You Might Also LikeGift Guide: Best Ride-On Electric Cars for KidsFuture Cars Worth Waiting For: 2025–2029
