Ford Bronco Filson Unites Two Outdoor LegendsFord (Ford)There are no shortage of imitators in modern life. Both products that don't live up to their advertised claims and people with public personas that aren't quite authentic are all too common. These motifs have infected the automotive world as much as anywhere else—but Ford and Filson's new collaboration aims to be very much the opposite of those poseurs. At least, that's what the Michigan automaker and the Seattle outfitter claim they're aiming to accomplish in building the Ford Bronco Filson.First teased on May 19, the Bronco Filson officially debuted on June 3, and it isn't here to play games. As the first non-Raptor Bronco to use the 3.0-liter EcoBoost V-6, the Ford Bronco Filson stands to be the most extreme off-roader from Dearborn outside of its saurian lineup.Ford (Ford)Ford declined to specify exactly how much power will propel the Bronco Filson, but its 3.0-liter EcoBoost V-6 heart offers 418 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque in Raptor form. The Filson edition will receive model-specific engine tuning, and I'd be shocked if its final output wasn't close to 400 horsepower. The Bronco Filson also comes equipped with the Bronco Sasquatch off-road package; front and rear electronic locking differentials, high-performance Fox shocks with internal bypass technology, and 35-inch rugged-terrain tires are all standard. A 10-speed automatic transmission is also standard, though its gearing is matched to the non-Raptor Bronco specification.AdvertisementAdvertisementModern-day off-roaders are packed with electronic driver aids, and the Bronco Filson is no different. Features like Trail Turn Assist (which tightens the turning radius) and Trail 1-Pedal drive are found on the Bronco Filson, while Ford's Terrain Management System adds an additional layer of configurability with its seven driver-selectable modes (Normal, Eco, Sport, Slippery, Baja, Off-Road, and Rock Craw). The standard 360-degree camera system is a trail-ready prerequisite these days, too.Ford (Ford)The best fruits of Ford's partnership with Filson ultimately show themselves in ways beyond the mechanical, however. Filson's Gold Rush-era canvas credentials mean its first foray into car cabin design is focused on properly messy adventures. A combination of perforated, quilted leather and durable woven fabric seat trim inspired by the outfitter's rugged twill stretches across the Bronco's interior. Such rugged materials and choice ergonomic changes help quiet the cabin, as Ford says interior noise is down by 20 percent compared to 2021 model year Broncos. Other premium upgrades include ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and an upgraded B&O branded audio system."There is a massive difference between premium and precious," said Paul Wraith, Ford's global design director of sport utility vehicles. "If you're hesitating because you're afraid to get the cabin dirty, it doesn't belong in a Bronco. Every material we chose with Filson had to be honest, tactile, and relentlessly durable. And like a great piece of gear, this interior isn't meant to wear down, it's designed to wear in, aging beautifully alongside you and your adventures."Ford (Ford)The Filson touch extends beyond the seat and steering wheel upholstery. Hunters, anglers, campers, and wanderers are certain to feel comfortable here, as removable storage bags are integrated throughout the cabin; whatever your sporting ambitions, these water- and dirt-resistant bags will carry your gear from the trunk to the campsite. Standard power running boards assist with roof-top loading, and a new digital rear view mirror means you can pack the interior to the roof, too.Visually, the Bronco Filson can be identified by custom heritage painted wheel arches, painted mirror caps, and exclusive trail sights that can be used to tie down canoes and other large objects. Ford will offer the special edition Bronco in Filson-exclusive Field Green Metallic, Marsh Gray, Avalanche Gray, Desert Sand, Shadow Black, and Oxford White. An extra-special Bronco Filson First Edition will be offered in an exclusive Iron Sands Copper Metallic exterior paint color, with a unique fender badge and a custom serialized console badge.Ford (Ford)AdvertisementAdvertisementFord will build the Bronco Filson at its Wayne, Michigan, plant alongside the majority of the Bronco lineup. Orders for the special edition Bronco will open this fall, with deliveries expected to start early next year. Pricing and production details have yet to be revealed, though we suspect this high-powered, design-forward Bronco will sport a sticker that starts around $75,000. Plus, if you want to match your new off-roader, a limited-edition Bronco x Filson clothing collection will be available beginning June 4 exclusively at Filson stores. You Might Also LikeIf You Can Only Own One Car, Make It One of TheseThese Are the Most Popular Cars by State
