This may come as a surprise, but the Lucid Air offers the most extended driving range for an American EV and all EVs. Yeah, that's right, it is the longest-range electric vehicle available to the public. If you've heard of this "gem" before, you've probably received the overall breakdown of how luxurious and innovative this EV really is. One detail that goes unmissed sometimes is that it sits at the top of the list regarding EVs with the best driving ranges. Lucid offers the Air in four trims: Pure, Touring, Grand Touring, and Sapphire. Each trim is unique and different from the others inside and out, and the same can be said for its fuel economy and range.

The 2025 Lucid Air offers an impressive range on all four trims. The starting trim, the Pure, provides a combined MPG of 129 to 146 and an overall driving range of 372 to 420 miles. The reason there are two specifications for some models is that they come equipped with either 19- or 20-inch wheels, which ultimately affects the range and efficiency. For the Touring, it range drops down a bit, offering 361 to 406 miles. The third-highest trim, the Grand Touring, is the grade that offers the best range with its 446 to 512 miles. This can be taken even further, with Rivian offering beefed-up batteries with their "performance batteries". It gets pretty dicey, but the Dual Standard R1T offers the lowest driving range, 258 to 270 miles, whereas the Dual Max offers 380 to 420 miles. The Dual Max can utilize the performance battery or not and still offer both ranges, with the battery primarily focusing on "performance" rather than efficiency. The Rivian R1T comes with many price tags but sits around $69,900 to $99,900.

It wouldn't be a range discussion without a Tesla appearing, and the Tesla Model S is up to bat with its 400-plus driving range. Tesla is one of the most well-known EV brands and possibly car brands as well, and the Model S is their premium sedan. The highest trim is the Plaid, notorious for its incredible power, with top speeds of up to 200 miles-per-hour and a 0-60 mile-per-hour sprint in 1.99 seconds. For its range, it doesn't compete like the others, offering 312 to 348 miles. For the base all-wheel drive model, it starts to pick things up, providing an estimated driving range of 380 to 402 miles. This knocks it down quite a bit when compared to the Lucid Air Grand Touring, but it stays in the ballpark of some of the other trims on all models listed. The Tesla Model S is another pricey EV with its added range, which starts at $79,990 to $94,990.

Its range isn't the only area that it's successful in, with its performance possibly being just as impressive. The base trim starts at $69,900 and is the only grade to utilize a single electric motor and rear-wheel drive system. This setup delivers 430 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque.

If the base isn't that appealing to you, and you need more power, the two middle grades, the Touring and Grand Touring, come with an additional motor, producing 620 to 819 horsepower figures. But say even that's not enough, and you just need more speed and getup, you'll probably want the Air Sapphire, which is one of the quickest EVs on the market. Powered by three electric motors, the Sapphire makes 1,234 horsepower and 1,430 pound-feet of torque. It's capable of launching you from 0-60 in 1.89 seconds. Now, this isn't going to come cheap, with a price range sitting amongst supercars, with an MSRP of $249,000.
