Maserati is going through a very uncertain period, with the brand seemingly poised to spin off from the Stellantis family of automakers. For now, the automaker is still around and developing new products. These spy shots catch the company developing a refresh for the GranTurismo and GranCabrio.Judging from the latest spy shots, the company doesn't plan to make considerable design changes. Instead, it's developing a new front end and a revised tail. These shots offer a great look at the revised GranCabrio Folgore and GranTurismo Trofeo. Updated Maserati Sports Cars Carbuzz/ValnetStarting with the GranCabrio Folgore (pictured above), it wears a slightly revised nose. It boasts a massive rectangular inlet at the center and a vertical section bearing the brand's trident-shaped emblem. In comparison, the current design has a wider, rounded opening there and tinier openings in the lower corners. There's also a little camouflage at the rear (below). The wrap is at the very bottom of the bumper and covers a portion of the diffuser. It's not clear what the company is hiding because the change seems so small.Carbuzz/ValnetThe situation is similar for the updated GranTurismo. Maserati gives it a new, more angular nose. There are two square inlets in the center and smaller ones in the outer corners. The current version has rounder openings there. From looking at the two models, it seems that the Italian automaker's designers are adopting sharper shapes for its updated models.Unlike the GranCabrio, the GranTurismo has no covering at the back. It appears completely stock. We can't rule out the company fitting a different panel there later, though. For now, the nose is the only part of the car with revisions.Carbuzz/Valnet The photos don't get us close for a look inside the cabin, but there's little reason to believe anything notable is happening inside. The current models already have quite handsome interiors with high-quality materials and plenty of tech. That said, minor trim updates or fresh software are always possible with a refresh, even one as minor as this appears to be.Similarly, there's no indication of powertrain changes. The GranTurismo comes with a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 making 483 horsepower in standard trim or 542 hp from the Trofeo. The electric Folgore models produce a total of 751 hp from three electric motors. The current-generation GranTurismo is a few years old, having debuted in 2022 for the 2023 model year. Generally speaking, refreshes happen less frequently in the car world versus those for SUVs, so a minor update like this one might even be a little early in the schedule. However, seeing Maserati testing any update, even ones with slight changes, suggests that Stellantis still has some faith in the brand. The company intends to announce more about Maserati's future, and the future for other brands in the Stellantis family, during an investor call on May 21.
