A man who left his car parked in Atlanta says it was targeted by thieves. The alleged crime is turning heads all over the web. The theft itself wasn’t unusual, however—what was taken was. The user, who goes by @trendyyzy, says he returned to his car only to realize someone had stripped it in a way he’d never seen before. Instead of stealing the vehicle, he says whoever did it took every single door. “No way y’all took my [expletive] doors,” he says in the clip. He then pans the camera around the car, showing all four doors gone, leaving the interior completely exposed. The video lingers on the damage as he walks around the vehicle, almost as if he’s still trying to process what he’s seeing. “You could’ve just took my car,” he adds, clearly stunned by the choice to haul off the doors instead. The clip quickly took off. As of this writing, the video has racked up more than 2.6 million views, turning a frustrating moment into an internet spectacle. What If the Doors of My Car Get Stolen? It’s actually not uncommon for your car’s doors to get stolen. After all, it has happened before. In 2017, a Baltimore woman said thieves took her two passenger doors and nothing else. If you find yourself in this position, the first thing to do is protect yourself and your property. A vehicle without doors is an open invitation for more damage or theft. According to Lemonade Insurance, if you find that anything has been stolen from your car, you should call the police and file a report. Just like you’d do in any other situation where your vehicle is damaged, you’ll need basic information, such as your VIN, license plate, and a description of what was taken. After the police are called, contact your insurance company. Comprehensive coverage usually covers theft and vandalism, including stolen car parts. And even if you’re unsure what your policy covers, reporting helps keep your options open. Be prepared, though: Anything personal taken from inside the car is usually handled through renters’ or homeowners’ insurance rather than auto coverage. You’ll also want to secure the vehicle as quickly as possible, since stolen doors leave your car’s interior vulnerable. That said, having it towed to a repair shop or another secure location is a good option, since leaving it where it is risks more damage. Viewers Joke About the Leftover Car People who came across @trendyyzy’s video were just as stunned by the theft, with many struggling to understand why someone would steal only the doors. That confusion quickly turned into jokes about what was left behind. “Left you w a golf cart,” one woman joked. “Turned yo [expletive] into a dune buggy,” another commenter cracked. “Riding round in that [expletive] like a wrangler,” a third person teased. “Ts basically a slingshot,” someone else chimed in. “They left you boneless fr,” another viewer added. Beyond the jokes, some commenters said the video was enough to make them rethink driving in Atlanta altogether. Several pointed to the incident as proof that part theft like this is common in the area. “Stay the hell out of the ATL,” one person warned. “Boy yo [expletive] be shivering all ova Atlanta,” another wrote. “He said, ‘Atlanta, Georgia,’ that’s how yk he flabbergasted fr,” one viewer observed. “Atlanta is not a real place at all,” another added.
