This report includes a collection of the following Jeep models:AdvertisementAdvertisement2022-2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer: 22,144 units built from Feb 24, 2021 – Oct 30, 20252023-2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L: 9,350 units built from May 04, 2022 – Oct 30, 20252022-2025 Jeep Wagoneer: 54,249 units built from Mar 08, 2021 – Oct 10, 20252023-2025 Jeep Wagoneer L: 11,606 units built from May 11, 2022 – Oct 09, 2025All in all, the total number of affected units comes out to a whopping 97,349 cars. Even more surprising, the issue affects models built 4-5 years ago with varying production dates. However, the safety recall report notes that production dates determine which models were equipped with the factory crossbars.Loose Crossbar BoltsThe NHTSA report describes some variants of the Wagoneer as being equipped with roof crossbars with insufficiently torqued pivot bolts. The bolts are loose enough that the recall report says the crossbar itself can detach from the vehicle. As expected, any part that can detach from a moving vehicle poses a road hazard to operators and occupants of other vehicles, and can cause such vehicles to crash without prior warning. The report says that customers might hear a rattling noise from the crossbar, which indicates that the bolt is loose or already missing.This isn't the first time Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneers have been recalled for body parts that could fly off.
