2027 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Refresh RevealedMercedes-BenzMercedes-Benz has revealed the 2027 C-class sedan, which undergoes a refresh that brings the styling in line with the recently updated S-class.The grille is larger than before and now surrounded by black trim that connects to the headlights, and the three-pointed-star motif appears in both headlights and taillights. The virtual assistant has been upgraded with artificial intelligence, allowing it to carry complex conversations, Mercedes claims. In April, Mercedes unveiled the 2027 C-class EV, borrowing the name from its long-running compact luxury sedan for the new electric offering. But Mercedes-Benz hasn't forgotten about the gas-powered C-class, which is now being refreshed with revised styling, new colors, a tweaked powertrain, and more interior technology.Mercedes-BenzThe 2027 C-class wears a new front end with revised headlights that are now connected to black trim that surrounds the grille, echoing the look seen on the refreshed S-class. The grille is larger than before, stretching lower into the bumper, and it's surrounded by a chrome border. In the center sits an illuminated Mercedes badge, and there is also an LED strip that encircles the grille just inside the chrome trim. The headlights and taillights both add the three-pointed-star motif that is now spreading through the automaker's lineup.AdvertisementAdvertisementAlong with a puddle lamp on the mirrors that splashes the Mercedes-Benz logo onto the ground next to the car, Mercedes added LED projectors integrated into the side sills that display a special pattern onto the pavement. The C-class is also available with a new 18-inch wheel design and two new 19-inch AMG wheel options, and there are two new paint colors: Miami Silver Metallic and Moody Sky Grey Metallic. A new AMG Line Plus package brings a sportier look and sports seats with red contrast stitching and red seatbelts.Mercedes-BenzThe cabin doesn't look drastically different from the outgoing car, but the steering wheel has been redesigned, now featuring a physical scroller for the volume control. An 11.9-inch touchscreen continues to be paired with a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, but the MB.OS operating system has been upgraded and can install over-the-air updates for the entire vehicle software. The MBUX infotainment also gains an AI-based virtual assistant—which employs ChatGPT, Microsoft Bing, and Google Gemini—that Mercedes claims "can engage in complex conversations and has short-term memory, responding like a well-informed friend." Mercedes says the assistant can also use context clues from conversations to choose music or a podcast that it thinks you'll like, or if you can't remember the title or artist of a song, it can help find it.Mercedes-BenzWhen you do figure out the name of that earworm that has been stuck in your head, you can listen to it on the optional Burmester surround sound system, which has Dolby Atmos capability and 15 speakers. Elsewhere in the cabin, you'll find 64-color ambient lighting, two new upholstery colors, Beech Brown and Cherry Red, and new available Natural Grain Birch Wood and High-Gloss Silver Metallic trim.AdvertisementAdvertisementUnder the hood is an evolution of the current setup, with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder paired with a 48-volt hybrid system. The integrated starter-generator can add in 23 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque at lower engine speeds, and the 48-volt system also allows for a new electric auxiliary compressor to spool up in milliseconds and help the turbocharger with power delivery and acceleration. The overall engine output remains unchanged at 255 hp and 295 pound-feet of torque, but there's now a boost function that brings an extra 27 hp for 20 seconds.Mercedes-BenzMercedes also says that the suspension has been retuned to make the C-class more agile, with tweaks to the adjustable dampers to minimize body movements. The sideview mirrors, meanwhile, have been redesigned to reduce wind noise, among other measures that aim to make the cabin quieter. The C-class also gains the augmented reality head-up display from the S-class.The 2027 C-class will start arriving at dealerships in the United States in the first half of next year. There's no word yet on pricing, but the refreshed model will likely start slightly higher than the $51,000 required to purchase a 2026 C-class.➡️ Skip the lot.
