Man Trades Audi RS5 for 2025 BMW M3. Why Does Everyone Think He Made a Mistake?

A former Audi driver has been getting some heat for switching over to BMW. 

In a TikTok that’s generated over 607,400 views as of this writing, Rag (@real_rag) reveals how he traded his Audi RS5 for a 2025 BMW M3. 

“My new car is officially here. This is my brand new, right off the boat 2025 BMW M3 Competition X Drive. I’m officially a Beamer boy now. What’s worse, I’ve bought the car I’ve been talking down on for the past three years,” Rag beings. 

Rag has built a loyal following for primarily focusing on Audi car content, so the switch left some of his followers in shambles. 

“I feel betrayed,” one follower commented.

“I have been following this account because of the Audi," another added. 

“Bro single handedly taught me everything I needed to know about my rs5. This one stings,” a third shared. 

Rag made the announcement that he sold the Audi RS5 because he needed a switch-up. Additionally, he told Motor1 via email that the reason for the switch primarily comes down to three points:

• Audi's perceived underperformance due to the VW group: He said, “After owning multiple Audis, I noticed a consistent pattern of what I believe to be underperformance. It seems that Audi, as a car brand, doesn't always have full autonomy in its development decisions; rather, the VW group appears to be the ultimate decision-maker.”
• BMW's recent appeal: “In contrast, BMW has been consistently producing exceptionally appealing cars lately,” he wrote. “When the new G series BMWs were first revealed, I didn't pay them much attention. However, once they were released and owners began showcasing their impressive capabilities and completeness, I truly started to appreciate the immense effort BMW puts into their vehicles.”
• Audi's strong focus on EVs:  He added, “The final factor that pushed me to try a BMW was Audi's intense focus on electric vehicles. It seems they've largely de-prioritized gas cars, putting all their development efforts into meeting their unrealistic deadline to make all their new cars EVs by ‘2030’. Audi's pivot has meant that their gas powered cars have taken a backseat in terms of development.”

When it comes to his new ride, Rag shares, “I made sure to not cheap out on this thing so I could get the full experience.”

Rag showcases the BMW M3 features, starting with the paint color: a graphite grey, which, in certain lighting, reveals gold flakes mixed with the grey. The spoiler, diffuser, roof, mirrors, and front vent are all carbon fiber. What really made Rag excited was the interiors. 

“Let me show you my absolute favorite thing about this car. This interior is actually insane,” he shares. He continues to reveal the interior color is silver stone with ambient lighting you can choose the color of. He chose pink. 

“These seats are something else. I cannot stop looking at them. It’s one thing to see them in photos, but seeing them in real life, they’re incredible,” he reviews.

This attention to detail excites Rag as he mentions Audi doesn’t give you a lot of interior choice options, or doesn’t offer extended leather.

“This is my new BMW M3. Living the dream of a lot of TikTok kids,” he concludes. 

Why Does Everyone Think He Made a Mistake?

Viewers chimed in, believing he made a mistake trading in his Audi for the BMW M5.

“Oh my he joined the dark side,” one TikTok commenter shared. 

Between car enthusiasts, Audi and BMW drivers frequently debate which is better. While both brands make exceptional high-end cars, drivers are divided and loyal to the brand they choose. This rivalry between brands has created heavy discourse in TikTok comments sections, Audi forums, BMW forums, Reddit, and more. 

Will He Ever Go Back To Audi?

Rag took pride in being an Audi guy and built his following by talking about Audis. To put his Audi preference aside to give an honest review of BMW is commendable. 

“Man you the goat for not staying too biased to the Audi cars and being fully honest about your thoughts on the new BMW,” one TikTok commenter shared. 

Rag isn’t letting his past Audi loyalty get in the way of enjoying the BMW M3.

“Every time I drive this car more, I like it more day by day. It makes me realize how far BMW is compared to everyone else in performance, speed, tunability, cooling, and tracking. It’s just better in this car,” Rag shares. 

In one review, Rag was thoroughly impressed with the horsepower of the M3. “It all makes sense. I am now understanding the feeling this badge gives people. The arrogance these BMW people have—it all makes sense now.” 

Rag did a one-month update, and he is still in disbelief at how well the M3 is assembled and built. “It’s been about a month since I’ve switched from Audi to BMW. Not going to lie, I’m a little mind blown here. I’m a pretty objective person, and I didn’t realize how well these guys do everything,” he confesses.  

However, Rag did reveal in an Instagram post that his original intention was to drive the BMW M3 until the Audi B10 RS5 comes out.

Motor1 asked Rag, “Do you plan on switching back to Audi once the B10 RS5 comes out or sticking with BMW?”

Rag told Motor1, “I'm not entirely sure anymore. My initial plan was to return to Audi, but I've been genuinely impressed with BMW. I appreciate high-performance luxury German cars, and currently, I don't believe any other brand can match the BMW M3 within its price bracket. While I'm hopeful that Audi will offer a compelling package with the B10 RS5 that can truly compete with BMW, I'm uncertain if they can replicate the 50 years of sport sedan refinement that has culminated in the G80 M3 we have today.”
