Image Credit: AlpineThe Alpine A290 Rallye is the high-performance version of the Alpine A290 EV, which itself is a higher-performance version of the Renault 5 EV. Not content with the standard versions, Alpine has teamed up with Lacoste to create a special one-off A290 Rallye concept.Lacoste is a French designer fashion brand, founded in 1933, and it sells all sorts of clothing as well as footwear, sportswear, and perfume. It is a company instantly recognizable thanks to its green crocodile logo, and that crocodile features heavily on the new A290 Rallye. The full name of the new model is "Beware of the Crocodile - Alpine Lacoste A290 Rallye," which is a bit of a mouthful. Speaking of mouthfuls, the car takes its color hue from the bright red of the crocodile's tongue on the Lacoste badge.AdvertisementAdvertisementIt is an unusual collaboration, but both Alpine and Lacoste are two of France's most recognizable brands, as is, of course, parent company Renault. Sadly, like with many concepts, it's unlikely that this one will actually reach production. But the collaboration has certainly given us one hell of an interesting EV.What Makes the Alpine Lacoste A290 Rallye Stand Out?Alpine already has a partnership with Gucci, and this collaboration with Lacoste is the start of something similar. A new capsule collection is coming between the two, with the concept effectively serving as a warm-up to what is to come. While no mechanical changes have been made to the A290 Rallye, there are plenty of cosmetic additions to the EV.For starters, the outside of the car has been finished in a stunning white, inspired by Alpine landscapes. There are a few red flourishes as well, such as at the front. Red dashes go across the headlights, while the famous Lacoste crocodile is also visible at the front of the Alpine. At the back, however, is one very cool revision to the Alpine that really makes it stand out.Gone is the rear window. In its place is a large, red crocodile head, sticking itself out of the back of the car and looking at everything behind it. The head also looks partially submerged in water; however, it is integrated into the red ducktail spoiler at the back of the EV. Look inside, and this is when the craziness really begins to take over. The Inside Is Awash With CrocodilesImage Credit: AlpineIf you aren't a fan of crocodiles, then it is probably best to look away now. There are roughly 290 crocodiles placed all over the car, with the vast majority of them found inside the Alpine. As well as at the back of the car, the crocodiles are on the dashboard, door panels, steering wheel, and even the seatbelts. Materials used include Lacoste's petit piqué fabric, with embroidery by Potencier. Yet that isn't the craziest thing about this electric car.AdvertisementAdvertisementThe interior itself has been finished fully in red. That is to give those inside the impression that they are sitting inside a crocodile's mouth. Alpine has also used a lot of 3D printing inside the car to help showcase the brand better, but also to bring the weight of the car down. Lacoste has launched a capsule collection together with Alpine to coincide with the car's reveal, featuring things like Polo shirts, T-shirts, and more. Sadly, this Alpine will never go into production, and it is just a special one-off.If you want more stories like this, follow Guessing Headlights on Yahoo so you don't miss what's coming next.
