The Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut is one of the world's premier hypercars. It's capable of amazing performance, including setting a record for going from 0-400-0 kph (0-249-0 mph) in 25.21 seconds in 2025. Now, there's even more evidence that this Swedish machine is one of the most impressive vehicles in its class.Sweden's National Day is June 6 and celebrates the nation's independence. As part of this year's festivities, Koenigsegg brought out a Jesko Absolut to the automaker's home airfield to claim new titles. Factory test driver Markus Lundh achieved new production-car records for a non-EV, and the company verified the results using Racelogic hardware. Best Ever In The Quarter-Mile And Half-Mile Koenigsegg Lundh pushed the Jesko Absolut to cover the quarter-mile in 8.54 seconds at a speed of 189.5 miles per hour (305 kilometers per hour). For context, the previous official non-EV record holder for this feat was the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X, with an official time of 8.675 seconds. The Koenigsegg also beat the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 that could cover the distance in 8.91 seconds. The Rimac Nevera R is the top electric performance machine with a quarter-mile time of 7.9 seconds. The Jesko Absolut also did the half-mile run in 12.76 seconds at 231.8 mph (373 kph). As a less-common vehicle performance metric, there are fewer points of comparison. However, when the Jesko Absolut went record-hunting in 2025, the car was going 223.6 mph when it completed the standing half-mile.According to Koenigsegg, both of these records are also the fastest top speeds ever for a production car over these respective distances. This was the first time a production model went over 186 mph (300 kph) in the quarter-mile, and the car was even faster, at 189.5 mph. To make the times and speeds even more impressive, Koenigsegg said it achieved the feats on an unprepped surface and on production tires. When Dodge evaluated the Demon 170's quarter-mile ability, the company tested the muscle car on a prepped drag surface and covered the distance in 8.91 seconds. The Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut has been around for a few years, so you might be wondering why it's even quicker all of a sudden. The company says that "new software advancements" unlock the additional performance, and this update is rolling out to existing Absolut owners soon via an over-the-air update. CarBuzz has reached out to Koenigsegg to find out specifics about the software revisions. The Jesko Absolut In Perspective KoenigseggThe Absolut is a more aerodynamic version of the already extreme Jesko. It features a low-drag body that prioritizes the car's top speed and acceleration. There's also the Attack version with a revised exterior capable of making 3,000 pounds of downforce to achieve quicker lap times. Both of them pack a twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V8 making 1,280 horsepower on pump gas, 1,600 hp on E85, and 1,106 pound-feet of torque. The company's nine-speed Light Speed Transmission routes all power to just the rear wheels.Over the years, Koenigsegg has gradually improved the Jesko, making it even quicker. At one point, the company set four speed records in a single run. CarBuzz Insight – Why This Matters: KoenigseggKoenigsegg doesn't rest. The company continually improves even its existing vehicles while setting new benchmarks. We look forward to finding out the specific software changes that are now making the Absolut so much quicker. Previously, the company made tweaks to the Light Speed Transmission for putting down the power more effectively. Now, the engineers apparently found even more room for improvement. While these acceleration records are certainly impressive, the world is still waiting to see just how fast the Jesko can go when fully opened up. It's theoretical top speed is beyond 300 mph, but finding a venue to actually handle that speed outside of a salt flat (which is far from ideal for a production car like this) isn't easy. That's the real record we're waiting for.Source: Koenigsegg via YouTube
