Nissan previews custom versions of the new Elgrand in Japan. Autech trim combines a sportier exterior with a premium cabin. It is joined by the Autech Line, the VIP, and the Step Type. Nissan’s new Elgrand hasn’t even reached Japanese showrooms yet, and the company’s Motorsports and Customizing arm is already showing its hand. The Autech treatment positions the flagship minivan as a more grown-up, design-led alternative to whatever the Nismo division eventually cooks up. Autech serves as Nissan’s in-house premium sub-brand, taking standard models and reworking them with bespoke bodykits, upgraded interior materials, and optional chassis tuning. The Elgrand now joins the Note, Leaf, Serena, and X-Trail in Japan’s Autech catalog, slotting in as the flagship of the family. These are combined with silver mirror caps and matching extensions for the side skirts and the rear bumper. The minivan is finished in the signature Deep Ocean Blue shade, and rides on dark metal 18-inch alloy wheels. Nissan Elgrand Autech Inside, the Autech treatment is more lavish. The cabin is trimmed with black Nappa leather with blue quilting and stitching. Twin 14.3-inch displays handle infotainment and instrumentation duties, and the second row gets captain’s chairs with retractable legrests. Nissan hasn’t released technical details, so it remains unclear whether Autech engineers have given the Elgrand any unique suspension tuning to go with the visual upgrades. This one gets the same metal-like splitter and mirror caps, along with a dark metal gray finish for the grille and the alloy wheels. Another option is the Elgrand VIP, designed for those who prefer being driven. This has an understated exterior design, better suited to a private shuttle. The dark-themed interior features black Nappa leather upholstery with a different pattern, along with 15.6-inch rear entertainment screens and reading lights.
