According to the contract, Revolt Motors needs to deliver all 1,100 electric motorcycles to Bihar Police by January 2027. However, the company aims to fulfil the order well ahead of the deadline, by the end of this month. It will deliver the bikes to the police department in the state capital, Patna.
Revolt Motors has six electric motorcycles in its line-up, with prices ranging from 99,999 rupees (€940 euros) to 144,950 rupees (€1,362 euros), excluding registration charges and insurance. Bihar Police has chosen one of the company’s higher-end models, the BlazeX – which costs 134,990 rupees (€1,268 euros) ex-showroom – for its fleet order.
The BlazeX is an electric commuter motorcycle featuring an IP67-rated mid-mounted motor producing 4.1 kW and 37.4 Nm of torque, sourced from homegrown manufacturer Sona Comstar. An IP67-rated 3.24 kWh battery pack comprising CATL-sourced NMC cells powers this motor. This configuration allows the BlazeX to accelerate from 0 to 40 km/h in 5.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 150 kilometres.
Charging the 3.24 kWh battery pack from 0 to 100 per cent SoC takes 4 hours and 45 minutes. In case a charging point is unavailable near the motorcycle, the battery pack can be removed and charged separately at any regular power socket. It delivers a range of 150 kilometres, as per IDC (Indian Driving Cycle).
Revolt Motors started selling electric motorcycles in August 2019 and has delivered more than 60,000 units so far. Commenting on the order from Bihar Police, Anjali Rattan, the Chairperson of Revolt Motors’ parent company, RattanIndia Enterprises, said: “Securing an order for 1,100 electric bikes from Bihar Police is a significant step for Revolt. Institutional mobility presents a different set of requirements from individual ownership, and engagements of this scale give us an opportunity to take our products into real-world operating environments. We see institutional adoption as an important avenue for expanding the role of electric bikes in India.”
