'I'm Not Getting Back In:' Man Storms Into Car Wash. Then He Calls Out Workers for Letting Ford Go In Front and Damage His Car

A man went viral on TikTok after blasting a car wash he claims “destroyed” his truck.
Joshua Johnson (@joshuajohnson3113), who appears to be new to the platform, reports that his truck was damaged after it followed another vehicle with what appeared to be a truck bed or camper attached. Exactly how the damage happened isn’t clear from his video—a detail plenty of commenters wanted to know, too—but Johnson was firm in saying the car wash wrecked his ride. As of this writing, his clip has pulled in more than 419,400 views.
What Happened at the Car Wash?
Johnson only started recording after the damage was supposedly done, which makes it hard to see what actually happened. What his video does show is a heated back-and-forth with an employee, who at one point threatens to call the police on him.
Multiple staffers can be heard telling Johnson to get back in his truck.
“No, I’m not getting back in my car,” he fires back. “This is y’all’s fault.”
He then points the blame squarely at the car wash for letting a vehicle with equipment attached even enter.
“Y’all should not have ever let him come through this [expletive] car wash with that attached to it. It’s negligence,” Johnson says. “My car was just damaged because of y’all’s negligence.”

What Cars Can’t Fit In Automatic Car Wash Tunnels?
Cars with extras—like a tonneau cover—or even certain trucks usually aren’t meant for automated car washes. The risk of something going wrong is just too high. These setups can tear up the tunnel, mess with the equipment, or even cause issues for the next driver in line.
Those spinning brushes and heavy cloth strips can snag on attachments and lead to expensive repairs. Touchless washes are generally a safer bet, but aren’t much better. The high-pressure jets can force water into seals or openings on a camper, leading to leaks or ruining whatever’s inside. On top of that, some of the harsh chemicals used can eat away at finishes like anodized aluminum, which a lot of camper units have.
And then there’s the debris problem. For standard pickup trucks, most car washes make you clear out the bed before driving in. If something loose flies out mid-cycle, it can damage the machinery or someone else’s car. With a built-in bed or camper, that risk only gets bigger.
The safer options are the old-school ones. A hand wash gives you full control and avoids the risks altogether. Truck washes like Blue Beacon are built for oversized or customized rides, while self-service bays let you spray down your own vehicle without worrying about brushes or belts. If you want convenience, mobile detailing services will even come to your driveway and handle the cleaning with the right tools and products.

Viewers Want Both the Customer and Car Wash Workers to Stand Down
Commenters who saw Johnson’s video weren’t entirely taking his side—or the car wash’s. Many pointed out that since the truck was already damaged, the situation should be handled by an insurance company, not by the police or a shouting match in the parking lot.
“Dude. Insurance will handle it,” one commenter said. “Relax.”
“Calm down, they have insurance that will cover it,” another wrote.
“Guy doesn’t need to get back in his car, but he also didn’t need to act like that,” a third viewer said. “Obviously, they are working on it all; it’s an insurance issue now. Not reversing the events of the day by yelling and throwing a fit.”
“Why is everyone so stressed out lol,” a fourth asked. “That’s why you have insurance people.”
Still, some agreed with Johnson that the car wash was in the wrong for even allowing a vehicle with a truck bed attachment into the tunnel in the first place.
“If they would’ve used their common sense, none of this would have happened,” one woman wrote.
“That employee needs to chill out,” another added.
“Nothing should be in the back of a truck when going through an automatic car wash,” a third cautioned.
Others felt Johnson’s own behavior—recording and shouting—only made the scene worse.
“Way to handle it like an adult,” one user quipped.
“It is their fault, but they’re just kids,” another said. “There’s no reason to be yelling.”
“I mean, seriously, give them a minute to take care of the issue,” a third person wrote. “Just standing around screaming and videoing does nothing.”
