As of this writing, the brand sells only three models, comprised of SUVs/crossovers of varying sizes and segments. Some have speculated whether the division is, like its parent company, struggling to find its competitive edge among European and Japanese equivalents and may not be sustainable to continue in the long run, but with news that Infiniti has plans to debut multiple new models that aim to bring excitement back to the brand, it’s worth going through how Infiniti’s lineup could appear in the coming years. In addition to whether they are models worth keeping an eye on, it’s worth offering some commentary on whether these future Infiniti cars will be competitive against their rivals in their target markets or if Infiniti needs to ensure they hit certain criteria that make them enticing (as much as possible) to prospective buyers once they hit production. All information on the featured models has been sourced directly from the manufacturers; manufacturers reserve the right to update this at any time. New Infiniti Models for MY2026-2027 Infiniti’s Current Lineup Limited To Three SUVs (For Now) The latest model year sees three models currently make up the Japanese luxury marque’s product lineup for the North American market, with no four-door sedan or two-door coupe currently offered (unlike previous years). We’ve highlighted all of these SUV-inspired or derived models below, along with a few key points about each one. 2027 Infiniti QX65 InfinitiThe Infiniti QX65 is one of the newest Infiniti cars to be added to the product lineup. While sharing a lot of similarities with its sibling, the QX60 (including the same turbocharged four-cylinder and nine-speed automatic transmission combination), the QX65 distinguishes itself with its more fastback-inspired profile and lines, alongside a more prominent front grille design. The QX65 aims to tap into Infiniti’s long-term customers who recall the coupe-inspired crossovers of the past, such as the Infiniti FX, but tribute aside, we remarked in our first drive impressions that the QX65 still has a lot to prove its competitive edge over rival coupe-inspired SUVs and the QX60 itself. It's worth highlighting that all-wheel drive is standard across the QX65 lineup, in contrast to the inclusion of both front and all-wheel drive in the QX60's lineup."Though the QX65 is mostly identical to the QX60 when it comes to the mechanical bits, there are minor changes to tuning, which are restricted to the throttle and the transmission. The QX65 is also only available with all-wheel drive... If you're also looking toward the lower end of the midsize and large luxury crossover market, it's still not a bad choice."- Joel Stocksdale, Road Tester, CarBuzz 2027 Infiniti QX60 Jared Rosenholtz/CarBuzz/ValnetThe revised Infiniti QX60 also returns for the latest model year. Now in its second generation, the QX60 continues to be the most affordable of the new Infiniti models (for MY2027) available with third-row seating. Sharing the same platform as the current Nissan Pathfinder, the QX60, following its midlife update from MY2026, has notably lost its 3.5L naturally aspirated V6 powertrain, with all variants of the QX60 only available with the turbocharged four-cylinder. The omission of the V6 may be disappointing to some Infiniti loyalists, but the refreshed styling and cabin tech, including available hands-free driving via the Nissan group’s ‘PROPILOT’ technology, still add selling points to this luxury crossover."This is considered one of the more affordable three-row models with a luxury badge, and it has been improved inside and out... The QX60 may not be our favorite option in the segment, but it should continue to be Infiniti's best-selling model."- Jared Rosenholtz, Editor-at-Large, CarBuzz 2026 Infiniti QX80 InfinitiThe largest model, both in overall length and body size/shape, out of all three within Infiniti’s lineup is the QX80. The flagship SUV in the current Infiniti range also brings the largest powertrain available: a 3.5L twin-turbocharged V6 paired with a nine-speed automatic and standard all-wheel drive. Serving as a rival to flagship luxury SUVs like the Lexus GX/LX and the Cadillac Escalade, the QX80 aims to appeal to buyers inclined toward the Nissan brand umbrella (or those seeking an upmarket equivalent of the Nissan Armada). With a starting price of at least $85,000, it is also the most expensive model in Infiniti’s lineup. What Are Infiniti’s Future Plans? Information About Future Infiniti Cars Highly Anticipated Nissan Skyline V38 Teaser (3)-1Though Infiniti has a fairly limited lineup at present, which doesn’t allow the brand to extend to a broader range of segments and potential customers, Infiniti has indicated its future plans in the coming years intend to change that, with small details about what its upcoming product range will be slowly making its way into the headlines."The QX65 is to be followed by four new models with diverse powertrain options: a new midsize hybrid SUV, a performance‑oriented V6 sedan and two large hybrid SUVs that balance refinement and capability. Nissan also confirmed it is planning a family of U.S.-built models on a new body-on-frame platform... The model family will feature V6 and new V6 Hybrid powertrains."- Infiniti USAUp to four Infiniti models have been confirmed to be added to the brand’s product range in the coming years. These include three new SUV models, in varying sizes, that incorporate hybrid technology in some form (gasoline hybrid or a variant of Nissan’s e-Power range extender technology), a body-on-frame chassis-based SUV (a variant of the future Nissan Xterra), and above all, a V6-powered sedan with rear-wheel drive that will pick up where the Infinti Q50 left off (after it was discontinued MY2024 onwards). However, no two-door V6 coupe has been confirmed as part of future Infiniti cars to expect in the coming years. How Competitive Could Future Infiniti Products Be? Infiniti As of now, there’s not a lot of firm information we know about these upcoming Infiniti models - not even an Infiniti concept car that has been debuted at a major auto show or a physical prototype showing these are undergoing their respective testing stages. Despite this, it’s worthwhile to still discuss the implications of these new Infiniti models and how they could possibly offer any degree of incentives to draw away buyers from other Japanese brands, alongside more premium European, Korean, and American rivals. Future Infiniti (aka Nissan Skyline Variant) V6 Sedan Infiniti While a new Infiniti sports car is not likely to happen to avoid clashing with the current-gen Nissan Z, the luxury marque is welcoming the idea of a V6-powered sedan that will revive a four-door model in Infiniti’s lineup since the Q50 was retired. Nissan USA’s leadership has confirmed to sources that the revived Nissan Skyline abroad will be marketed as an Infiniti for North America, being a new generation of the Q50 that features the same twin-turbocharged V6 powerplant as in the latest Z car.The previous-iteration Q50 fell into an odd niche when it came to midsize and executive sedans, with many automotive critics stating it couldn’t firmly decide if it wanted to compete against entry-level executive sedans (BMW 3 Series, Audi A4) or the upmarket ones (BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class) dominated by German brands. Infiniti has the opportunity to make a firm effort in positioning the future Q50 this time around, especially if they want to make a performance variant riding on the Skyline’s heritage and GTR roots to rival other performance sedans from the Mercedes-AMG and BMW M divisions, respectively. A Skyline ‘Nismo’ could make some degree of the Eau Rogue concept (finally) a reality, provided the platform offers enough driving thrills to match its alluring aesthetics as standard, considering the lukewarm reception to the Red Sport variants. Future Infiniti 'Body-on-frame' SUV (Variant Of Upcoming Nissan Xterra) 2029 Nissan Xterra SUV teaserMuch attention has been paid to the upcoming Xterra revival, and plans to incorporate an Infiniti variant of this rugged, Overlander-culture-inspired SUV will provide the Infiniti brand with some more attention from this growing SUV culture and target audience. This would ideally produce more functional, exciting models that aren’t just limited to overland-themed decorations (as observed on the current-gen Nissan Rogue and Pathfinder Rock Creek trims). Engine and transmission options are to be announced, but it's likely these will use the familiar twin-turbo V6, with the possibility of a hybrid setup that could rival the latest version of the Toyota Land Cruiser with its rugged looks (but decisive powertrain that could allow Infiniti’s counterpart to shine over the latter). Mechanical features like differentials, raised suspension, and a low range setting with multi-terrain select and similar features found on other SUVs with greater off-road prowess will be ideal to see implemented with this future Infiniti SUV.It’s worth highlighting Infiniti’s announced plans for not only a singular Xterra spin-off but a series of body-on-frame SUVs that will be marketed under both brands, which could mean a more diverse range of options for buyers in this segment in the future. Future Infiniti Hybrid SUVs 2026 Lexus UX 300h F-Sport BadgeInfiniti has hinted in its statement that the new Infiniti cars to expect will be hybrid SUVs, spanning different segments and likely ranging from compact crossovers to longer midsize SUVs. Ideally, these hybrid SUVs would be competitors to those from the brand that has long dominated this segment, Lexus, ranging from its compact UX to the family-oriented TX and RX models that combine the practicality of SUVs with the great gas efficiency offered by their gasoline-hybrid powertrains. The Korean brands, like Hyundai, also have the option of a plug-in hybrid variant that allows for even higher gas efficiency and more potent power outputs. The Nissan group briefly touched on hybrids within its SUVs in the previous Murano, and exploring the potential for hybrid powertrains will allow Infiniti to offer an even more competitive edge in the competitive luxury SUV segment - though whether its hybrid technology is on par with Japanese rivals, and whether plans to introduce electrification could follow a standard plug-in hybrid setup or follow a range-extender system (Nissan e-Power) is something Infiniti needs to consider in its future plans.Sources: Infiniti, Nissan, Lexus, Hyundai
