Pickup, Lincoln Variants of Bronco Possible?Ford Motor CompanyThe Ford Bronco family currently consists of just two vehicles: the namesake convertible SUV and an unrelated-but-popular compact crossover called the Bronco Sport. (There's also the Bronco New Energy EREV, but since it's exclusive to China and made in collaboration with a local brand, we're not counting it here.) New reports suggest the lineup might be going to expand in a couple of directions, however—not just with a new model in the Bronco family, but with a new Bronco-based truck hitting another brand's lineup, too.According to an August 19 report from Automotive News citing "people with knowledge of [Ford's] future product plans," the expansion on the Ford side will come in the form of a Bronco pickup truck. That model would theoretically serve as a direct competitor to the Jeep Gladiator, which keeps the Wrangler's off-road focus and open-air nature alive while offering most of the strengths of a mid-sized pickup. Ford already has a more typical midsizer in the form of the Ranger, but the Bronco truck could reach the audience that sits between its adventurous SUV and that more practical offering.Ford Motor CompanyThe other potential Bronco variant would reportedly be a Lincoln, one that could compete with dedicated luxury off-roaders like the Lexus GX, Land Rover Defender, and even the Mercedes G-Wagen by utilizing the Bronco platform as a starting point for a luxury truck. This possibility was first reported back in February, but a new story from the Detroit Free Press indicates that this product is now expected to arrive in 2029. Citing two sources "familiar with Ford's product plans," the Freep story even suggests a price: "just below" the current Lincoln Navigator's starting point of around $90,000.AdvertisementAdvertisement"Unfortunately, we do not speculate or comment on future product plans," a Lincoln spokesperson said to R&T in response to a request for more information. If either rumored future product does arrive, expect them to hit the market in the next few years. The Lincoln is reported to arrive in the summer of 2029, and the Bronco pickup is cited by Automotive News as arriving "near the end of the decade," which means it would presumably hit around the same time. You Might Also LikeIf You Can Only Own One Car, Make It One of TheseThese Are the Most Popular Cars by State
