These will be deployed in city centres, village squares, sports facilities, and other public areas. A total of 242 municipalities will be equipped with 22 kW devices. The 2,926 charging points will be distributed across 1,625 stations. The company states that this will position it ‘as a benchmark player in electric vehicle charging in Belgium’. Additionally, Engie Vianeo has been awarded another contract for 1,640 new charging points in the Belgian capital region, which was secured in March. In this case, the charging points will be distributed across 835 stations. The company views these recent contract awards as confirmation of its growth momentum in Europe. By 2030, Engie Vianeo aims to deploy 25,000 charging points across Europe, including 1,000 dedicated to trucks. Belgium plays a pivotal role in this strategy: by 2028, around 12,000 charging points are expected to be operational in the country. Beyond these new contracts, Engie Vianeo is already active in Brussels and Flanders, where it operates nearly 7,000 charging points (3,500 stations), making it the largest charging network in Belgium today. Across Europe, the brand currently operates close to 11,000 charging points, with a strong focus on its home market, France, in addition to Belgium. Engie Vianeo is also active in Germany, though the company is focusing exclusively on truck charging in the country.“The development of electric mobility is a key priority for ENGIE Group, at a time when the electrification of end-use applications is essential to the success of the energy transition and to strengthening Europe’s energy sovereignty,” states Frank Lacroix, Executive Vice President for Local Energy Infrastructure. “By rolling out accessible, efficient charging infrastructure, powered by green energy, ENGIE is playing a practical role in supporting the decarbonisation of transport and changing patterns of use, which reflects its development strategy at the European level.”The Engie Vianeo brand was established in 2023, when the French energy group Engie founded the subsidiary as a specialist in e-mobility charging solutions. Initially, the focus was primarily on the development and operation of fast-charging infrastructure for battery-electric cars and trucks. However, with the installation of several thousand standard chargers, Engie Vianeo is now significantly diversifying its business towards the AC charging market.en.newsroom.engie.com
