Cadillac joins Bentley and Ferrari at the peak of automotive design excellence. That’s according to the judges for the 20th annual EyesOn Design awards announced Wednesday, Jan. 14, at the Detroit Auto Show, which opens to the public Saturday and is being held at Huntington Place downtown. The Bentley EXP 15 Concept won in two categories, Innovative Use of Color, Graphics or Materials, and Interior; the Ferrari Amalfi in Production, and the Cadillac Elevated Velocity in Concept. Finalists included the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale, Ferrari F80, Chevrolet Corvette CX Concept and BMW Concept Speedtop. “As one of the automotive industry's highest honors, designers worldwide value these awards as recognition by their peers for exceptional design,” according to a posting on the award website. More than 50 judges from across the automotive world weighed in, including Ralph Gilles, chief design officer at Stellantis; Bob Lutz, retired vice chairman of General Motors; Todd Willing, head of design at Ford Motor Co., and Franz von Holzhausen, chief designer at Tesla.
