Built on the “Neue Klasse” platform, the new model integrates the sixth-generation eDrive system. The vehicle made its debut at this year’s Beijing Auto Show 2026 and is scheduled to commence domestic production in China in January 2027. The current Chinese i3 model was launched in 2022. ExteriorThe new i3 Long Wheelbase has a wheelbase longer than 3 meters. The iconic kidney grille is fused with the classic “quad” headlights. Radar and camera sensors for intelligent driving assistance are concealed behind the integrated light units. The profile retains BMW’s signature short front overhang and long wheelbase layout, complemented by a sleek sloping roofline and wide fenders. Notable exterior features include a 31L front trunk and a 420L rear trunk. Side and rear of the new BMW i3 Long Wheelbase. For the Chinese market, the vehicle will be equipped with new semi-hidden door handles and an illuminated “M” emblem on the C-pillar. The car will be available in a “Isle of Man Green” paint finish. Interior and smart cockpitThe interior features a white and grey contrast colour scheme. The highlight of the cabin is the Panoramic iDrive+ Intelligent Cockpit, which includes: A 17.9-inch borderless central control screen. A 43.3-inch horizon panoramic display system. A 3D Head-Up Display (HUD). A dedicated multi-function steering wheel. Further premium amenities include three-zone automatic climate control, electrically adjustable multi-function seats, and a Harman Kardon sound system. The second row of the new BMW i3 Long Wheelbase. PerformanceThe new i3 is built on an 800V high-voltage platform and the sixth-generation eDrive system, enabling 0-100 km/h in 4.7 seconds.
