Bentley calls latest special-edition Continental GT models the Sun, Earth, and Moon. The Sun model is a Continental GT S finished in a glimmering shade of Manuka Orange. All three retain Bentley’s familiar hybridized 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. Will car manufacturers ever run out of inspiration for special edition models? After Bentley unveiled its special Nicolaus Copernicus Collection earlier this week, we don’t think they’ll run out of inspiration, as this trio of one-offs pays tribute to a Polish astronomer who died almost 500 years ago. While the influence behind these cars is a little unusual, there’s plenty to like about them. The collection, named after famed polymath Nicolaus Copernicus, the first to hypothesize that the sun sat in the center of the universe, rather than Earth, was created in partnership with Bentley Warsaw. The three-car run includes a pair of Continental GT S Coupes and a single Continental GTC S drop top. The car sits on black wheels, while inside you’ll find a combination of Gravity Grey and Orange leather, complete with Copper Stone veneer plastered across the dashboard. Positioned behind the rear headrests is a depiction of the Earth and the Moon. Then there’s the second model, dubbed Earth. A Continental GT S Coupe finished in Nebula Blue, a color custom-made just for this car. Like the deep, dark blue hues you’ll find in the ocean, it looks calm and relaxed. The color also helps to highlight many of the Continental’s key styling traits, including the flared rear quarter panels and arches. Beyond the Nebula Blue paint, the Earth model has a cabin combining Imperial Blue leather with Aegean Blue accents. It too includes depictions of several planets throughout the cabin, including on the door panels. Cars Fit For Orbit Last but not least is the final car, badged Moon. It’s been painted in Moonstruck silver with hints of pink, purple, and blue. Key cabin elements include several planetary motifs as well as Beluga and Ice leather. All three models depict a special orbital pattern on the center console, in the style of the Copernicus Diagram, which includes Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. Although the three special-edition Bentleys have very different specifications from each other, they share the same 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged hybrid V8 with 671 hp, and the same 22-inch black wheels. If Copernicus were still alive, we’re sure he would have approved.
