Around two decades ago, high-performance SUVs were rare. When they did show up, they typically didn't have supercar-rivalling levels of power and performance. Now, though, things are a very different story. It's now par for the course for SUVs to have 500, 600+, or even 700+ horsepower. It's also not uncommon for them to have supercar levels of acceleration, and top speeds that come close to what most supercars can get up to.All the cars on this list not only have that level of performance, but they're also easily available. A couple of them are even still available to buy new if you've got the money to spend on that! Range Rover Sport SVR (2018-2022) Power: 575 hp Via: Bring a TrailerIt's rare that you see a Range Rover model that's explicitly geared towards performance. The 2018-2022 Range Rover Sport SVR is one of those, and it's absolutely fantastic. Its 5-liter supercharged V8 (the standard-issue engine for 'R' and 'SVR' branded Jaguar Land Rover cars of that era) produces 575 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. That's good enough for a 0-60 mph time of 4.7 seconds and a standing 1/4 mile time of 13.1 seconds at 109 mph.Via: Bring a TrailerThe only part of this car's performance that isn't so impressive is its limited top speed of 140 mph. Several of the other cars that are going to feature on this list later can easily beat that. But, that's offset by how these cars are starting to slip into bargain territory. You can get a good one from this time period for $40,000. Judging by how the values of the early 550 horsepower cars are depreciating, that's only going to drop further. Mercedes-AMG G 63 (W463, 2018-2024) Power: 577 hp Via: Mercedes-BenzThere was once a time when the Mercedes G-Class was a basic, go-anywhere military vehicle. While that's still somewhat the case, these days it's more known as a luxury SUV. The Mercedes-AMG G 63 is the performance version, and the 2018-2024 W463 iteration is one of the best. While it may not have a fantastic top speed (137 mph as standard or 149 mph with the optional AMG Performance Package), it's ludicrously powerful for such a big, boxy SUV. You get 577 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque out of its 4-liter twin-turbocharged V8. That's good enough for a 0-60 mph time of 4.3 seconds, and a standing 1/4 mile time of 12.5 seconds at 110 mph.Mercedes-AMGIf you want one of these G 63s, you're going to have to pay up quite a lot of money. These 2018-2024 examples are often listed for anywhere between $100,000-$200,000. This really is a car for the people who've got serious money only. But, if you can afford it and you love its blingy-yet-militaristic aesthetic, it's probably one of the coolest SUVs you can get your hands on. Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT Power: 631 hp PorscheThe Porsche Cayenne has so many great variants, it can be difficult to choose which one's most suitable for a list like this. The one that fits the best here, though, is definitely the Turbo GT. This is the most powerful combustion-powered Cayenne, producing 631 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque. This helps the Cayenne Turbo GT get from 0-60 mph in an incredible 2.8 seconds, and achieve a 1/4 mile time of 11.1 seconds at 124 mph.PorscheYou can still buy the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT from a showroom today, and it'll cost you around $247,120 if you do. If you decide to go on the used market instead, you can pick up a good 2024 example for $158,000. Give it a few more years to depreciate, and the Cayenne Turbo GT could be a decent performance bargain! Lamborghini Urus Performante Power: 657 hp The Lamborghini Urus has polarized car enthusiasts since it has been around. But, nobody can deny that it's a fantastic performance SUV. Perhaps the best expression of that is the Urus Performante. It's powered by the same 4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 as the regular Urus, but with the power boosted up to 657 horsepower. This gives it some amazing stats, including a 0-60 mph time of 3 seconds, a 1/4 mile time of 11.2 seconds at 122 mph and a top speed of 190 mph. If that wasn't crazy enough, a special version of the Urus Performante was also made for the Italian police!LamborghiniIf you want an Urus Performante, you're going to have to seriously pay up. One example sold recently for $292,000, and you're not going to see any others selling for less than $250,000 right now. These are seriously desirable, supercar-rivalling performance machines, and they have the used value to back it up. Aston Martin DBX 707 Power: 697 hp Aston MartinMuch like the Lamborghini Urus, the Aston Martin DBX has polarized enthusiasts ever since it was launched. The idea of an Aston Martin SUV has been a bit too much to swallow for some. But, the DBX has now proven to be a great car. The DBX 707 takes what makes the standard DBX great and bumps it up to 11. Its 4-liter twin-turbocharged AMG V8 was tuned up by the Aston Martin engineers to produce 697 hp (707 PS - hence the name) and 664 lb-ft of torque. This gives it a 0-60 mph time of just 3.1 seconds, and a 1/4 mile time of 11.5 seconds at 119 mph.The Aston Martin DBX 707 is still available to buy brand-new. If you do take that route, you can expect to pay around $236,000 MSRP for one (if you don't choose any optional extras). If you go used, you can expect to find a good early example with low miles for around $147,000. That's still very expensive. But, considering how great the DBX 707 is, it could be worthwhile if you've got the money to spend out for one. Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk Power: 707 hp JeepIt's rare that you see Jeep make a performance SUV. But, when they do make one, they tend to make one that's fantastic. The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk has ended up becoming legendary in its niche, and for good reason. It's got the 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat V8, producing 707 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque. That's the same output as it has in the Hellcat variants of the Dodge Charger and Challenger, and that gives it the same kind of brutal performance. 0-60 mph happens in just 3.5 seconds, and it'll do a standing 1/4 mile in 12 seconds at 115 mph.MecumThe Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is still very much an expensive proposition. A decent example will cost you around $70,000, and the best examples can fetch as much as the lower end of six figures. For what you're getting, though, it's actually a bit of a bargain. This SUV will keep up with supercars in a straight line, and that Hellcat engine has the potential to be modified up to even crazier levels than what you already get from the factory. BMW XM Label Power: 738 hp BMWThe BMW XM was controversial from the moment it started existing. It's considered to be the ugliest of the ugly ducklings in the BMW family, and a car that nobody wanted. Strip away all the vocal hate for it, though, and you get what is actually a pretty brilliant performance SUV. The XM Label (previously known as the Label Red) is the most powerful version, producing a combined output of 738 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque from its hybrid setup. This consists of BMW's 4.4-liter S68 twin-turbocharged V8, working in tandem with a single electric motor. This hybrid powertrain allows it to go from 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds, and it'll do a 1/4 mile in 11.6 seconds at 122.6 mph.BMWThe XM has become notorious for its massive depreciation. That could be a real issue if you decide to buy an XM Label brand-new, as it has a starting MSRP of around $159,600. Unless you've got deep pockets to stomach that depreciation, you might be better off waiting a few years for these to start appearing regularly on the used market.Sources: Aston Martin, BMW, Car & Driver, Edmunds, Jeep, Lamborghini, Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz, MotorTrend, Porsche
