Image: ZFThe ZF division Commercial Vehicle Solutions (CVS) will present its latest technologies for city, intercity and coach buses at the trade fair on 15 and 16 April. The centrepiece of its exhibit will be a new software solution for monitoring the condition of drivetrains. The system analyses powertrain data in real time and makes it available to fleet operators and vehicle manufacturers, enabling more personalised maintenance planning.“The software continuously monitors driveline data andtransmits detected issues, such as heating or cooling anomalies, tocloud based health monitoring solutions,” the manufacturer explains. Initially, ZF will launch the new software for its drivetrain called AxTrax 2 LF. The e-portal axle was introduced at Busworld 2023. It is offered by the Friedrichshafen-based company in two variants, with continuous power outputs of 260 and 360 kW and peak torques of 22,700 Nm and 37,300 Nm. Compared to its predecessor, the AxTrax AVE, the modern e-axle requires 20 per centless energy, according to the manufacturer. Combined with the new software, the e-axle is set to become even more appealing. ZF also claims that the integrated solution ‘improves vehicle availability’ and ‘lowers total operating costs through early fault detection and predictive maintenance.’At the trade fair, the electric central drive CeTrax 2 dual and the new A134 rear axle for intercity and coach buses will also be exhibited. The former delivers continuous power output of up to 380 kW and an efficiency of at least 94.5 per cent. According to ZF, the system is designed for demanding long-distance applications and optimised for high performance. The A134 rear axle was developed to meet the higher weight and torque requirements of future vehicle platforms (‘both conventional and electrified’). Specifically, the axle features improved recuperation capability and reduced weight while maintaining the same installation points as before. Therefore: “The A134 supports higher vehicle efficiency, improved energy recovery and greater integration flexibility”, ZF states. For those planning to visit the trade fair in Berlin: the ZF stand at Bus2Bus is located in Hub 27, Stand 250.press.zf.com
