Image Credit: More High Peak/YouTubeA few years ago, if you wanted to buy a second-hand EV, you wouldn't have had much choice. There weren't that many options available, and many will have also worried about battery degradation. Now, though, things have changed, as YouTuber More High Peak has shown us.The electric vehicle market has exploded in recent times with a vast number of cars available, and all for reasonable money as well. Depreciation has hit the EV market hard, meaning a car that once cost $40,000 or more could now cost just $10,000 or less. There are a wide array of reasons why some EVs now cost so little, such as poor range, but there are some excellent vehicles on the used EV market. More High Peak, the second channel of High Peak Autos, decided to go through the best EVs you can buy in the UK for $10,000 or less.AdvertisementAdvertisementThere were some fascinating cars on the list. Some of the cars had depreciated significantly, showing how quickly a car's value can drop. But the video also showed that, if you know where to look, you can get a real bargain. What EVs Can You Buy Cheap Second-Hand?One car that has seen huge depreciation is the Jaguar I-Pace. The I-Pace was well received when it first launched, winning awards such as World Car of the Year. Yet now, despite costing over $70,000 when new, they can now be bought for under $10,000. That is a bargain for a luxury car, with nearly 300 miles of range and a good level of speed. The YouTuber also highlighted the Kia e-Niro. He said this changed expectations of what a mainstream EV could be, as it is a good all-rounder, looks good, and can go for around 250 miles before needing a recharge. The e-Niro is incredibly reliable too, and is probably one of the most reliable on the second-hand market in the UK. It is a sensible, practical, and affordable EV.If you want an EV, but also don't really want an EV, then the Volkswagen e-Golf is probably the car for you. As the YouTuber said, "It looks like a Golf, drives like a Golf, and feels like a Golf." It is a very safe option, and one that perhaps isn't the most inspiring of choices. But the e-Golf will get the job done for most people. Think of it as an introductory EV to test the waters for the future. The Used EV Market Has Plenty of OptionsImage Credit: More High Peak/YouTubeAs the YouTuber went on, it was incredible to learn just how many EVs you can buy in the UK at such a low price. The Nissan Leaf was another, and it arguably made EVs a lot more mainstream. The second generation is still a solid car, with better styling than the first model, and you get 150 miles out of a full charge. You can buy them for as little as $5,000, and that is with low mileage too.AdvertisementAdvertisementThe Renault Zoe was another popular choice, and the 52kWh model had enough range for up to 250 miles of range, and these too can be picked up with low mileage and for a great price. The Kia Soul and BMW i3 were also brought up as good options, especially in the later models. The Tesla Model S, however, took the top spot on the YouTuber's list. Values have fallen so much that you can pick up earlier models for less than $10,000. Plus, you can drive up to 280 miles, which is excellent for a second-hand EV.If you want more stories like this, follow Guessing Headlights on Yahoo so you don't miss what's coming next.
